Good place to soak up the sun on a fine day . People say colonialism is not all bad but then it is a little tricky to say that a few nice parks made up for the almost complete annihilation of the indigenous population .

Gosh there’s a school group here . I’m bit going to take photos of random youths though that would just get me in trouble .it seems they are actually doing some exercise in here . That’s a really fabulous idea and excellent use of such a fine public park !

Just remember to wear sunscreen ok !

Located right next to the bustling Salamanca Markets we were so amazed by how peaceful it was at St David’s Park.
The park has lots of large trees with many shady spots to relax and read a book which lots of people were enjoying today. The park is also dotted with clean comfy park benches for those who prefer to be seated.
St David’s Park has lots of memorial pieces to look at and is home to St David’s Memorial Walls which is a lovely dedication to a lot of Hobarts founding families.

Beautiful part to have a picnic when the weather is nice. Big beautiful trees and many historical parts to look at. At night, it is quite dark there, but overall it is safe and sound.

Memorial Park commemorates colonial history first fleeters, early Hobart citizens & government officials in tombs, and a pathway made with gravestones.
Tall trees, lush green grass spattered with white clover & busy bees. Birds sing in the trees. Tranquility here.
Clean Public toilets

Absolute must see in Hobart! Beautiful park near Salamanca Markets that used to be a cemetery. The old grave stones have been reset into a wall of remembrance. Lovely gardens.

In this park you will find etched upon the stones the early history of Hobart. It is a beautiful place to take a walk, eat your lunch or just sit.

This is a beautiful sanctuary from the city. Glorious trees and lovely green grass are most inviting. There are sandstone headstone s of very early settlers of Hobart mounted in a number of walls at the lower end of the park. Two of these are my ancestors.

I usually pass by here since my work is located nearby. It has a certain charm to it that I cant explain whether you want to lie down on the grass, seat on one of its chairs or stroll around its a perfect place to spend some "me" time in otherwise a busy hobart. Sure, it may not be comparable to the beauty of Hobarts ports but it certainly stands out. On the other hand, there are lots of tombstones here since it used to be a cemetery.. sppoooky but well I walked through it at around 1 am one time and the only thing that greeted me are possums

Lovely shady park at top end of Salamanca place. Lawned areas and pathways. Easy access for mobility impaired people. Plenty of seating. A nice place to relax with family and friends away from the hustle and bustle and crowds of the weekend markets

A lovely, well maintained park. The history of it is fascinating - initially being the original Hobart cemetery.

Took a walk around St David's Park this afternoon. Nice backstory. Back in early settlement times it was the main cemetery in Hobart town. In the park there are memorial walls which are made up of many of the original headstones from the park’s previous life as the Hobart colony’s first cemetery. They contain the names and details of many “First Fleeters” and many of the early settlers of Hobart Town. This is an absolute hidden gem, right in the heart of Hobart. The park is beautiful and the memorial walls add that colonial touch to the space.
