We built in the midst of COVID and had a lot of issues with delays in getting our home complete. There were supply issues and lack of trade availability plus there were price increase!

What we were really impressed by was Devcons commitment to to us. They really worked with us to minimise the financial burden COVID bought along with it and their dedication to completing our project with full transparency and communication made for a great experience in a very troubled time! Would highly recommend!

Devcon Building Co has just finished building our investment property, and we are thrilled with the results. We loved how they took care of everything for us, the process was really very easy and went smoothly which was important for us. We wouldn't hesitate to build with them again.

With so many builders out there today it was hard to find a genuine one that we could trust with our biggest asset.

We bought our first home which was built by Devcon. Been disappointed with the overall quality and lack of attention to detail. It hasnt been anything major (thankfully) but electrical work sub par, some of the finishes rushed/unfinished etc. It was difficult to get them back to fix issues as noone seemed to be available to do the work(it did eventually happen after many emails). Overall i rate a business by whether i would go back/buy from them again. In this case I wouldnt.

One star is actually flattering for a business with such poor ethics, they could not build a pop up tent. Our unit in Kenmore is over two years behind schedule and am not expecting it to ever be completed. The company directors hide behind their poor receptionist and leave her to deal with disgruntled customers. Every update they provide is never met, they have used every excuse under the sun and now they simply refuse to take or return phone calls. They have ruined the new home experience for many, do not engage with this company.

I have had enough of this dam company!! My level of frustration from when I decided to choose Devcon to build my granny flat. It took over 2 years for it to completed. Yes I am super pleased that it finally got done and feel for those who are going through the same boat I went through.

I have done a new build it took me 6 months with all dead lines met. But this was just the worst experience and super frustrating! This company kept dragging it along and kept blaming shortage of tradies to complete the project. I was ever constantly contacting them to give me updates and the same answer kept happening.

After I was done I was so happy that I never had to deal with them again. When you call the receptionist would put me on hold and then come back and say this person is about to go in a meeting. Every time I called I could not speak to the appropriate person.

I thought k could be done with this company but now I’m dealing with a late payment for their final payment of an infrastructure charge when my project was finished in September 23 last year!

The have only paid the invoice on the 4th of July 24. Now I have incurred interest on this when I pressed them to get it paid April! Now, they are pushing back on me indirectly saying I have to wear it. They are taking no accountability for their ill responsibility.

Our experience with Devcon and its staff members was an unmitigated nightmare. What was promised to be our dream home turned into a gruelling three-year saga of incompetence, deception, and effectively being ghosted by the entire Devcon team. From the initial tender to our move-in date, we endured endless delays, broken promises and excuses that took a significant toll on our families mental health, as well as our finances.

The COVID-19 pandemic was shamelessly exploited, culminating in a demand letter for an extortionate fee increase under the threat of cancelling our contract.

Throughout the process, we faced verbal abuse from the general manager, pervasive lies, manipulation and cover-ups by many of the staff members we encountered. Their communication was practically non-existent, with an appalling response rate of approximately one out of every thirty emails.

When our home was finally declared "finished," it was embarrassingly far below the quality we were promised or expected. Even now, a year and a half after moving in, we are left grappling with a multitude of unresolved issues:

• Approximately $4000 worth of astroturf not done, despite our repeated attempts to engage Devcon
• Proper functioning air conditioning in our master bedroom, after an independent service review revealed a system half the necessary size was installed in our home
• Approximately $3000 stolen from us for plantation shutters, where Devcon cancelled the order and installation but shamelessly kept our money as "builder's margin"
• The need for complete replacement of all turf due to Devcon's reckless dumping of concrete over it
• Promised repairs to our garage floor, significantly damaged by their own machinery during construction, yet ignored by Devcon
• A myriad of issues including a dangerous free standing powder room sink not secured to the floor or wall, garage door remotes not working from handover and a balcony drain not installed, all stipulated in our approved plans but neglected by Devcon

It's clear now that the many of their 5-star google reviews are nothing more than self-serving pats on the back from their own staff members, easily verified by a quick glance at LinkedIn.

While we recognize that we were fortunate to have completed our new build home amid the challenges of COVID-19, the utter lack of customer care, integrity, and ethics from Devcon is beyond comprehension.

Don’t make the same mistake we did.

Beyond incompetent. 6 month build took over 3 years. Still incomplete 12 months after handover, which you are forced to accept in order to take possession. They do not care about their obligations. Avoid at all costs.

Have not paid pending invoices from September 2023. Avoid doing any business with Devcon as it looks like they are soon to being next builder going bust.

As I can see many others have experienced, my experience with Devcon has been absolutely shocking.

Absolutely zero communication, zero transparency, no commitment to their fixed price guarantees and am still left with a project that has not even started 1.5 years after signing a contract. I have logs of over 20+ emails, 50+ unanswered calls with Devcon, looking for an update on status or even a potential start date with no answer. Starting to look like another QLD building company that is probably next to go into administration.
