This drinking fountain, located on the corner of Fitzroy Street and St Kilda Road, dates back to December 1909 when it was donated by Isaac Jacobs to the Trustees of Albert Park. Isaac Jacobs was a colonist and Melbourne businessman. After he retired he devoted his time to philanthropy.

I, like many I suspect, have travelled past this historical fountain many times without really taking much notice of it. Made of granite, it's unusual in design and style. It stands on blue stone steps and has a 'pergola' cover. It also features a marble plaque at it northern base with lead lettering "Presented to the Trustees of the Albert Park by Isaac Jacob Dec. 1st 1909."
