Our recent move into a property featuring an untended garden for over thirteen years presented us with a significant challenge. After clearing the overgrown vegetation, we found ourselves needing help on how to transform the resulting bare plot into a vibrant garden, given our limited experience in gardening.

In search of expertise, we engaged Jamie's consulting services. Jamie's visit was a pivotal moment for our garden project. He meticulously assessed the cleared space, listened to our vision, and spent considerable time (three to four hours) consulting with us. His expertise was evident as he skilfully crafted a plan detailing which plants to place where, all while considering crucial factors such as sunlight exposure, soil type, and the integration of existing plants—areas we had not fully considered.

Jamie not only sourced and delivered the plants but also assisted in positioning them, providing invaluable advice on setting up our irrigation system. His service was not just professional but also highly personal, accommodating our queries and offering solutions to our gardening dilemmas, including a cost-effective alternative to an expensive retaining wall. Thanks to Jamie, we plan to install garden beds with efficient drainage for under $2,000, a solution that saved us a substantial amount.

His charges are remarkably fair, reflecting his generosity with his time and expertise. As inexperienced gardeners, getting Jamie around for a landscaping consult on our new property was the best idea. He helped us identify all the weeds, plants and trees in the garden, plus gave us a clear strategy and plenty of practical advice for how we can tidy it up and begin to make it our own. He was very down-to-earth, easy to talk to and open to our ideas and vision for the garden. Now we know we have *a lot* of work ahead of us but we’re looking forward to getting Jamie back again to show him our progress and talk about the next stage!

I saw a segment on Gardening Australia with Jamie and was blown away by the garden he has created in his own home and decided to contact him. In comparison, my project is very small but means the world to me. I explained to Jamie that I wanted to do the work myself, to really learn about gardening but needed help with the design. He talked through with me what I was imagining in my mind and then meticulously drew up my dream garden. It's a work in progress but Jamie has taken all the worry about what and where to plant away from me, so all I need to do is bring his experience and creativity to life! We used Hills Classic Gardens at our old house a few years ago and when we moved, we made certain we got in touch with Jamie and his team again as we have always valued and appreciated their work. We've primarily used them for maintenance, but this past year, extended to landscaping and were not disappointed. Jamie and his team are always professional, on time and never leave a mess behind. Most importantly, they listen to what we want, and offer solutions for any problems we have. Nothing is too hard. I would highly recommend them for any gardening work needed.

As time-poor, but enthusiastic home gardeners we were looking for a landscaping consultant who could provide us with some educated advice without having to contract a landscaper to complete any works. We were stoked to find that Jamie was happy to provide exactly this consultation service. We walked around our old unplanned, unorganised country garden with Jamie and he helped us unveil its potential. He impressed us from the beginning with his incredible knowledge of plants suited to our region and methods to plant for efficiency of water use, low maintenance and aesthetics. Jamie’s visit motivated us to get started on some changes to our garden/landscape, we have already acted on some of Jamie’s recommendations and have plans to continue making changes as time/money permits. Jamie also has a wealth of quality contacts he can recommend for specific jobs. We were very happy with Jamie’s consultation and wouldn’t hesitate to get him back again to help us nut out some further ideas/plans.

Highly recommend Hills Classic Gardens, Jamie was unbelievably helpful to us. We basically had a blank canvas to work with and needed some guidance on how best to fill the gaps. We had a consultation with Jamie and his advice was exactly what we were looking for, he drew up plans of what kind of plants to put and where and was able to source them for us as well. We had Jamie around to consult on what to plant where in our new property (garden) at Bridgewater. We are so very happy we did. Jamie has the most incredible knowledge, and was so keen and happy to answer any and all of our questions (we had many)! He was courteous, professional and passionate. Jamie came and designed our front yard - a space that has looked terrible for years! That is until he came along. He was happy to do it bit by bit as we had the time and money. There was never anything too hard for Jamie. He has designed an amazing space for us that we just love. He also included our young son, an avid gardener, in the design and the construction of the garden. Such kindness and patience!! Jamie designed and implemented a contemporary, innovative garden on our difficult hillside block. He was able to completely change the look and feel from a dated dark overgrown space to an open, light and easily manageable 1800square metres, for we non gardeners. We enjoyed many years at this home and Jamie was then able to come in and freshen the garden for sale with even more ‘out of the box’ ideas. The house sold at the first open and well exceeded our expectations. The new owner said she adored the garden. Thank you Jamie and team for your insight, experience and innovation.
