Sarah and the team helped us remodel our terrace house and we couldn't be happier with the result. It was a huge operation, yet throughout the process they were continually coming up with ideas to improve the design. The build quality is fantastic, and even a year after we've moved in they are still always available if we have any questions or issues. We achieved a home that is even more than our original expectations, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Middlewoman to anyone.

We had bought a rundown house that needed to be brought back to life and an old garage (that would not fit more than a Morris Minor) replaced with something bigger. We discovered the Middlewoman from her shop on Stanmore Road. We were immediately impressed by her response and down to earth approach to our requirements and quickly selected her to project manage the works we required. It was not an easy renovation with internal and external works and the need to relocate our kitchen. There was not one aspect of the services that Sarah provided that we can fault. She kept us within budget - by constantly identifying alternative, more cost effective solutions. Her subcontractors were skilled and careful workers and we had no problem welcoming them on site for the length of the project. They were polite and left the site clean and tidy each day. Sarah engaged an architect who enabled our rough ideas to be realised and navigated the council approval process efficiently. The project took longer than expected due to Covid lockdowns - the house being in what was classed as an LGA of concern. The interruptions did not result in any reduction in the quality of the work. The building was certainly put to the test with all the rain over the last summer. No leaks! We are very satisfied customers. We were concerned about the impact of building works on our neighbours - but all have complimented us not only on the quality of the work but also Sarah’s engagement with them so they were never taken by surprise by deliveries of bricks, steel beams or early morning concrete pours. We would highly recommend the Middlewoman and her team and would certainly use them again.

Sarah and her team helped us with a renovation that turned out to be a much bigger project than expected. Despite the unexpected challenges, Sarah was always calm, easy to talk to, kept us informed and involved, and managed everything very smoothly. We could always rely on her advice and she took a lot of stress out of what would otherwise have been a very stressful experience. We could not be happier with the quality of the finished product and Sarah continues to help us with other bits and pieces around the house. Thanks again to Sarah, Prue, Ian and the rest of the team. You helped make our first house something very special. We will be clients for life!

I can't recommend Sarah and her team more highly. I had originally contacted them to help with a small fix to my kitchen floor which turned out to be quite extensive damage requiring the whole floor to be replaced. That the job was able to be fitted in at short notice and completed to such a high standard (and at a very reasonable price) says a lot about the quality of the team that Sarah has working with her. I'd use them again in a heartbeat.

Sarah and team worked on our extensive build. I was impressed with the speed and quality of their work. I was the most impressed a couple of years later during the heavy rains when we were super dry and cosy while all around us houses were flooding and leaking. Thank you Sarah for providing us with a home that we can enjoy and be comforted knowing it is solid as a rock!!

We’ve used the Middlewoman for both big and small jobs and have always been extremely happy with the outcome. Fantastic service where they discuss everything with you and offer higher and lower cost options. The project manager attends the quotes which I find fantastic, they have a big roster of high quality and reliable trades people and transparent pricing so you know exactly what you are paying and why. The unicorn of builders, really! Couldn’t recommend them more.

We had much needed renovations carried out last year. The team thought about details we hadn't even considered and this year going through lockdown, we're so pleased with the comfortable space that has been created. Our bathroom has gone from being a dank sad room, to my favourite room in the house. Highly recommend the team at the middle woman

Unfortunately, I was mucked around extensively. Initially, I contacted Sarah and was advised she was not taking on any new clients. Fair enough. I tried again more than 12 months later and was told she was now taking on clients and I provided a detailed verbal outline of what I was after to which she responded she could assist. We made a time for Sarah to visit my home in two weeks and she postponed at the last minute due to the buiders availability changing. I was then advised the builder would be on an overseas trip so we would have to reschedule for a second time for a date more than 2 months ahead post his holiday. The day prior to this meeting, I contacted Sarah to confirm the meeting and she advised the builder had jet lag and we would have to reschedule again. So after being mucked around three times and losing months, I would not recommend this business.

Sarah claimed that as a woman she had to offer something different than what you might expect from a man, that she 'used to be a nurse'. I can tell you as someone who lived next to a construction site of hers for months that this is exactly the opposite, and her previously being a nurse is no testament to her character. She is exploitative, manipulative and if you have any regard for others, your business should be taken elsewhere.

I am a young person who lived next door while the middle woman carried out its operations on a property. I spoke to Sarah about the effect of the construction upon us and she told us she would 'compensate us directly' so as to 'not to trouble the landlord'. In this way, she exploited young people's lack of awareness of their rights to leave us in a position where we had no legal standing to receive compensation. I cut my feet open on chunks of brick debris, had belongings coated in hazardous dust from a heritage building, had strangers walk on the property and lived with constant noise for months. This led me to have an emotional breakdown of which she was aware, and responded with 'you could be my own children' before offering to compensate us. This is not a person you want any shred of involvement with.
