Very nice camp ground up there, options for powered sites, cabins or tents, heaps of nice bathrooms, a shared cooking shelter, magnificent morning views. But it was really special to be watching the moon glow red as it set behind the distant mountains while our fire kept the July temperatures at bay. 1 big shared fire pit that’s worth bringing your own fire wood with you.

We entered Lamington National Park from the O’Reilly Resort. Situated on a plateau at an altitude of 1,100 meters, the park boasts forests and dense canyons. This means that waterfalls can be seen throughout the park. With an extensive network of trails spanning over 160 kilometers, the Border Track serves as the main artery of the park. After researching online, we learned that the park's trails have minimal elevation, so we decided to follow the Border Track to visit the waterfalls today. The trail is very primitive, flanked by towering gigantic plants on both sides. It's hard to imagine that without the signs indicating upcoming waterfalls, one would not be able to venture off the main trail upon hearing the sound of water or even spot the waterfalls. If you continue along the source of the water and clamber up a few boulders, you can even discover another hidden waterfall.

This was a really great place to come and hike for the day. The most important thing to know is the drive. The last 30-40-odd kilometers is on a very narrow road with lots of “one-lane” sections, blind corners and a speed limit of 40km/h (which it would seldom be safe to exceed anyway). Google is quite accurate in its time prediction for driving this section. Recommend that only confident drivers take this route.
Once you make it to the end, you’re met with the National park office and O’Reilly’s Tea House. The ranger was quite helpful in helping us to chose a hiking route. We did the Box Circuit, which was surprisingly well designed using switch backs to avoid steep hills.
On the way, we did the free canopy walk. It is pretty short, but does have an elevated platform where you can climb ladders up above the canopy. A lot of the view is blocked by branches, but it’s still cool. It was very smoky from the bush fires when we were there, so the visibility wasn’t the best.
The tea house was fine. They are obviously limited by their location, but did a good job considering their situation. The parrots are quite aggressive with your lunch, but adorable too.
If you have the stomach and patience for the long, technical drive, this is a great place to visit.

Great place to come to get some fresh air and beautiful views and great walks. The carpark fills up very quickly so finding a parking spot can be very tricky. There are a good verity of walk for all ages. The drive up is on a narrow road with lots of single lane and rock falls which adds to the fun.

Beautiful walks (long and short) and very clean facilities. Road is only one way in one way out and not recommended for caravans. Definitely worth the trip.
