H&R Block

I went to H&R Block, Cannon Hill this afternoon. Steph was close to time, she was really easy to get along with and carried out her work with great efficiency. I thoroughly recommend this office. Cheers, Will Bassett

I've held off writing this for a while because I had not seen many accountants to compare H&R Block to in the past. But after seeing a different accountant for this years tax return I must confess that my previous experiences with this company have definitely do not measure up to the one I just had.

The good - The facilities they have are decently nice and the staff there were pleasant and comfortable to be around. There's no denying that. The Trading hours are also very reasonable, accommodating to us 9-5 workers which is very appreciative (thankyou for giving us this guys).

The bad - This may have literally just been me personally/bad luck of the draw. I would only hope that the following doesn't happen to everyone. But essentially, my last return with these guys took three weeks to actually complete and lodge. After our initial consultation the accountant requested additional information which i had to send via email. I did this within a few days following the consultation but never received any kind of acknowledgement or response. I proceeded to wait and soon enough three weeks had passed and still no response. I contacted them to follow up on my return only to find my return had not been completed or lodged. I can definitely understand when it gets busy and sometimes things can get lost or forgotten. But considering I paid upfront on the day of the consultation and combined with the lack of communication from the accountant, this has unfortunately left me a sour taste for the company. The accountant I went to this year was able to complete and lodge my return within 24 hours of our consultation, which was 100% more desirable than my last experience with H&R. In addition to this, the fee that I paid for my last return at H&R Block was substantially more compared to the fee I paid this year for my current accountant. The Returns were essentially identical with very similar income & very similar deductions.

It's unfortunate to say this but because of these shortcomings from H&R Block, it is unlikely I will not be using them again any time soon.

Will not be back was told over the phone the consultation cost.
Booked in for a hour (their recommendation) was only there 30 minutes then hit with an additional $65 fee on top of what I was quoted.
Will definitely not be back.
