Maurocco Bar, Castlemaine

Had a wonderful time here last night. Our group of 6 sat by the back door area with the leather lounges.
The delightful Mauro (I think that’s his name) made excellent cocktails, and was the perfect bar man. Thank you and see you again soon. Cath and Rod.

This place is INCREDIBLE!! Super kitschy and unique with a fantastic garden area out the back, boasting an incredibly friendly feline named Aloysius!!

Great place to have a quiet drink at the end of the evening, or catch the Jazz sessions. Not to mention the best Espresso Martinis in Victoria !

Wonderful place relaxed open areas with sofas chairs open wood fire.
Fully stocked bar.
Your host is traditional European friendly and non intrusive.
Makes great coffee without all the fuss along with authentic ports from Europe and local of course.
His prices are really outdated being from several years ago.
You will love it.

I was visiting Castlemaine for the weekend and found this place not far from the station. Really nice courtyard out the back and coffee was great! A unique place, its a beautiful old building. I'll be heading back there for the Sunday jazz sessions when I next go up to Castlemaine.

Great cocktails and cool art deco decor.

I was born here 31 years ago and just love the atmosphere. The service is quite good and I've rarely had cause to complain. The fact that children are discouraged was a little awkward due to my glue allergy and the need to wear a fake beard. It's been smooth sailing since I've been able to grow my own though.

As a city boy out in Castlemaine on invitation to see the opening of the Festival, I really had no idea what to expect of this place as we walked by.
Upon entry I was impressed with the quirky art deco stylings and felt very cosy amongst all the very friendly locals. The courtyard out the back is simply stunning. Large and plenty of places to sit and have a quiet drink if you like. This place is a gem and I look forward to enjoying a glass or two here again sometime 👍

A quirky, cosy interesting bar between the railway station and main Street in Castlemaine. Definitely worth a visit before dinner.

Had a great night out great owners and hòst.I was there for a private function.But stayed at the B and B private motel,years ago MORO and Anne have always been great hosts and run a great business.

Shockingly good decor and lovely vibrations. Absolutely worth a visit.

I requested a fluffy duck which wasn't on the menu, the owners were absolutely lovely & a joy to chat with, the establishment was lovely to sit in

The shiraz and cab sav were both very nice. The bar man was friendly and informative and allowed me to try the Tempranillo wine.

Gracious comfortable place where people greet you and chat to their hearts content and Mauro bakes his own cakes!! Yum

I haven't been there - but for gods sake it's a wine bar!!! I have kids. but wouldn't want any Rugrats there on my time out. Go maurocco
