Very well organised museum! There are 17 rooms to catch up. In the 17th room, climb up the stairs to enter the small Chapel, from which the owner of the house used to attend the church of our Lady ceremony without having to leave his house. Search also for the balcony for a great view of the outside! If I remember well, it is in the 15th or 16th room. I bought a 72hour ticket for all public museums! It is worth it if you plan to visit other museums too. Cost of Musea card: 32 euros

A superb museum both inside and outside. It’s a great way to learn about Bruges history and culture over the ages. The art and historical items were of quality and the actual museum beautifully decorated inside.
The grounds surrounding the museum were lovely even in the winter. A canal runs next to the museum and there are some nice photo opportunities along with the impressive brick architecture. There are free lockers for your coats or bags. Also you can do the audio tour on your phone if you have headphones.
Pay the few extra euros to get a combination ticket into the church next door to see the Michelangelo. It was the first sculpture by Michelangelo to leave Italy during his lifetime. Bought by Bruges merchants in 1504.

A good museum to visit if you have a bit of time. A great peek into what being rich in the 16th century was like. They have audio guides, though some places are not easy to fine. Either way, impressive.

We really see how the Gruuthse family are self-made. It’s lowkey inspiring and really interesting. Favorite part of the house was the bridge to the church. The family had their own VIP deck to attend mass

It's a great place to visit if you're interested in the history of Bruges. You can see numerous original items that were once used by a well-known Bruges family.

Gorgeous museum on the history of Bruges.
The building alone is absolutely worth a visit. It's also filled with an astounding collection of historical artifacts, illustrating the history of the area, the development throughout, and how the rich used to live around here.
They also have a lot of touch stations, which I haven't seen in this way in other museums before.
The audio guide is very well done, and there's loads to see. Don't skip this one!

Very interesting to see a palace built in this era and restored. Easy to imagine life here as it was then.

Amazing (with some interactive displays) historical journey of Bruges history, trade, customs, fashions. How wealth and trade created and influenced culture, art and science and with an oratory giving an amazing intimate view into the cathedral.

Amazing museum. It took me about 2,5 hours at quite a slow pace. A very informative audio guide is free via the smartphone. I enjoyed the story of the beautiful city and its amazing art. Highly recommend

This museum we went to by mistake, but it was not mistake after all. It really put Brugges medieval history in perspective. The museum is in a palace where each level you go up you learn more about the story of Brugge. This museum coupled with the City Hall Museum (Stadhuis) you really get a good understanding of Bruges.

There is an audio tour via QR codes for use on your cell phone. I recommend bringing headphones. Additionally this museum is part of a collection of museums in Bruges, where you can get access to all for 72 hours. This I highly recommend as each museum is about 15 Euros and the 72 hour pass is 33 Euros.

The view of the garden from the back balcony of the palace. What a wonderfully-curated museum this is. But the “Jewel of the Crown” was definitely the private chapel that connected the house and the church. It was unreal. You really get the sense of how rich this family was in their time. The stairs were quite steep and scary but I guess that’s part of the experience. This is a must-visit in Brugge together with the church.

I didn't go to the museum, but I do recommend entering to the inner-yard between the buildings to see a five hundred years of history in a small square.
