Our first time was fantastic. Met our friends for dinner and met the owners. Wonderful people and aim to please. The entire staff was full of energy and personable. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and comfortable. They have great views and outdoor seating for warmer temperatures. You've gotta go! The town of Madrid is very fortunate to have such a great restaurant. We are going back soon.

FOLKS!! This place is a MUST!! Stop looking anywhere else for a phenomenal meal & a top notch customer experience! This is your place! My son and my friend went for brunch. Upon entering we were greeted with a smiling, cheerful hostess. She seated us and we were served throughout the courses by at least 3 additional waitstaff members- all of which were delightful and catering to us as if we were the only guests in the place! The fresh squeezed orange juice was delicious. The coffee was poured in an oversized mug and was compliments of a local coffee maker in Potsdam, NY. Kudos to GOOD COFFEE! Our apps & meals were wow'ing and unlike anything else in the North Country. Every aspect was on point. We will be back! Thank you for going above and beyond to serve us and the community. P.S.-- The Chef's are right there at the exit area to send you off with a warm exit and signs of smile and appreciation. Your Mamas raised you right!!!

We came back over winter break to visit family from the west coast. What a phenomenal hidden gem in our hometown. The atmosphere was something I could not have imagined for our small hamlet. The service was friendly, and the food especially the sushi rivaled many of the places we had tried on the west coast. The ramen was also yummy especially the noodles, but needed some heat. Especially for a reopening weekend the staff was poised and considerate. Reservations are a must! Madrid doesn’t know how lucky they are… we will be back! Cheers and congratulations to the owners.

Had a lovely anniversary dinner with my wife, the sweet potato appetizer was a perfect balance of umami, sweet, spicy and savory. The arancini was delicately crispy with a creamy center and an aromatic finish that leaves you wanting more. Really looking forward to trying the pickle pizza but we'll save that for another day. Can't wait to plan my next trip out.

The Blue House exceeded my high expectations this evening. Not only was the food spectacular, but the hospitality, ambiance and service made it an amazing dinner experience.
The wood roasted Brussels sprouts with bacon and cheese curd was the perfect way to start out the meal and the pot roast was so tender it practically fell apart. The essential comfort food for a cold evening!
We also had the beet salad which is always a crowd pleaser, and the Napa cabbage wedge salad that had a nice smokiness to it.
The tempura fried squash was AMAZING, the sauce was sweet and spicy and the crunch of the peanuts!
Thank you to Chef Josh and Alicia, Jenn, Brad, Greg, Mason, and Aiden for the amazing service!

The Squash veggie sushi was a 10/10, single handedly best sushi roll I have ever had. The Perch tempura roll was amazing 10/10. The tempura veggies were 10/10 imagine Japanese sweet potato fries and Japanese blooming onion. The Ramen was good and if it had more salt and an option to make it spicier (siracha) would have also been a 10/10. Overall, if you live in St Lawrence County and are not getting a reservation at the Blue House you are missing out on a phenomenal dining experience. Stop what you are doing, cancel your other plans and take someone you love on a culinary adventure to The Blue House.

We stopped for brunch on our way home from visiting my in-law's in the North Country. We'd seen postings of a new farm-to-table restaurant in Madrid. The building from the outside, appears as an unassuming newly built blue house, just like the name describes.

Once you enter the barn style door, we were greeted by friendly cooks in a brick oven style kitchen. The inside has been beautifully renovated to a bright, modern, cozy wooden feel with a scenic view of the Grasse River. The friendly host seated us and a flow of low key informative servers took our order.

My husband enjoyed a tasty pork sausage omelet while I went with one of my favorites, Eggs Benedict. They provided a few options from BLT, pork sausage or Veggie themed with summer Squash. I opted for bacon. Both had excellent flavor and were beautifully plated. All breads are made in-house too. Well worth the stop when you are in the area.

This is the finest meal you can get in the North Country. Food is fresh, local, menu is ever-changing and interesting, and you can taste the love that goes into the food. It’s mouth art. Comfy atmosphere with a nice view of the Grasse River. Staff are sweet and care about your experience. Good idea to make reservations as other are catching on! Thank you, The Blue House!

Photo below is truffle oil and celery root noodles. It was a delicious, savory, creamy mouth explosion. Home-made sodas with fresh fruit.

Waiting a day to celebrate our anniversary was absolutely worth it because we were fortunate enough to get reservations at the North Country’s hottest new restaurant! The Blue House finally opened for in person dining and we couldn’t be happier for them.
.
The atmosphere is beautiful and understated and classy and relaxed. The food? Let me tell you. Beyond outstanding. From the house made sour cherry lime soda to whipped beet butter French radish sea salt starter with delicious honey wheat bread to the generous portions of the calamari starter to our main course. Josh got the fire-roasted meatloaf with a potato cake, homemade ketchup, and onion crisps. I had the zucchini rigatoni with homemade pesto and ricotta.
.
The best part though? The service. Walking in the door, you immediately have a front row seat to the main event - Josh and his crew, cooking up a storm with a beautiful wood-fired oven as the back drop. Alicia and the servers were friendly, super quick, and focused on making the guest experience an unforgettable one. It was a great night and I look forward to many more.
.
I almost forgot! After all that food, we were too full for dessert so we brought home one of Brad’s Chocolate Cakes - layers of chocolate cake, cinnamon whipped cream, all topped with a chocolate ganache. It’s in my fridge waiting for me and I’m pretty excited about it.
.
All that to say - GO TO THE BLUE HOUSE! It’s amazing.

After this place succumbed to a fire, they rebuilt and came back better than ever! We waited for a long time at their first Friday reopening. Kitchen was backed up and servers were having a hard time keeping up. Not once was there a shred of poor service. After they sold out of the majority of our order, the service continued. We never asked for any sort of comp due to the wait and being sold out of our choices, but they gave us free drinks, made our substitutions, and comped our entire meal for a party of SEVEN!

We loved BH#1 and we continue to love BH#2! You guys helped us make memories with friends on several occasions and we can’t wait to see you again! ❤

OMG the North Country finally has an amazing restaurant, reminiscent of high-end establishments in urban settings with a humble hometown vibe. The staff was amazing and the food was local, organic and delicious. The menu is seasonal and partners with local farms that we know and love. The converted “house” is modern, comfortable and cozy in the winter months. Can’t wait to go back already, the reasonable prices will keep this restaurant busy, so reservations are a must!!!

The beef skewers were amazing, the sauce with it is amazeballs. Pizza crust is also spot on. Mushroom pizza as a whole was also the best. Definitely give it a try. Will be back anytime we come back to NY.

This is hands down the most impressive food and one of the most welcoming atmospheres you’ll find visiting the North Country. The restaurant is full of passion and intricate detail, with an inspiring story behind every decoration.

By far the best place I've dined at in the North Country. Everything from the food to the service was exceptional. The chef is TALENTED and the menu reflects it. Run dont walk to try this place, you will not be disappointed.

It is always a bonus to find vegan options offered in the North Country. The spicy pineapple pizza was unbelievably delicious. The perfect amount of spicy balanced out by the pineapple and basil.

My husband and I had dinner recently and we had a lovely time. From the friendliness of the staff, the atmosphere, food and just relaxing time we had made it feel like we were wanted & not a number. I have to say that the food tasted the freshest of any restaurants that I have dined at in extremely long time.

Our waitress who happened to be the owner's wife, went above and beyond and was so patient with us when we were trying to make our minds up as to what to order. The owner himself, who is the head chef, took time to talk with us after we had our meal and we were leaving for the evening. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a pleasant dining experience and excellent food. I know we will be going back again.

***The one thing that could use tweeking is the dessert I had it was a chocolate cake, which was very rich, too sweet for me and needed a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I did try some of their homemade maple walnut ice cream with the cake, but that was too sweet for me. We did take the cake home, bought vanilla ice cream and it was perfectly balanced. I try to personally balance the sweetness in desserts at home, so it was more than I was used to.

On separate occasions my wife and I have had wonderfully delicious brunch and dinner at the Blue House. Their menu is always changing and offers fresh and exciting new choices. The atmosphere is bright and friendly; I can’t say I could name any restaurants with such enthusiasm and camaraderie among the staff. The owners took time to speak with us and treated us as friends, which definitely marks this place in our minds as one to revisit soon and often.
