Fed up with lining up for downtown breakfasts I wandered off the beaten track up Main looking for an old school diner. Helen’s hit the spot exactly right down to the tabletop jukeboxes. Walked right in without lining up and was immediately taken by the friendly vibe and a dining room loaded with old school atmosphere. The service was fast and friendly and while nothing fancy it was a great breakfast, well cooked and with quality ingredients

Love me a classic diner. Staff were fantastic, including the manager/owners that chatted NFL with me! Really good breakfast sandwich.

I love this place!
My second time going there in a few weeks. I'm very impressed with portions of the food on the plate. Today's order was Salisbury steak, and I left full, ohh and I had a choice of salad or soup, and I went with the soup, it was a regular bowl of soup, not a small cup, forgot to take picture of soup.

One of only two restaurants that I am aware of in Vancouver with little table top jukeboxes (and the ones at Helen’s are not out of order!). I like the grilled cheese with bacon inside it (on sour dough), either with a cup of soup, a salad or the fries. Their fries are the skinny style 👍🏻👍🏻 And a cup of coffee of course.

I decided to grab a bite after work, as I would always pass by (never tried it before). I entered 15 minutes before their closing and they were getting ready to clean up in the kitchen. Regardless of the restaurant almost closing, Nick took my order and allowed me to dine in. (SHOUTOUT to Nick, he’s awesome) I felt at home and was full by the great portions. The place also gives huge retro vibes, from the seats to the quarter speakers. It made me feel like I time travelled. I came from another restaurant before coming here and I got kicked out even though they were closing in 40 minutes, so Helen’s Grill definitely made a great impression on me. Will be coming back for sure :)

At an amazing time at this dinner with friends before a show. Very friendly owner and great service! Amazing food and huge portions. We all had to take some food home.

Nick and his staff are very friendly and had a great chat with him as he’s a local Vancouver boy too. We knew we had found a new favourite diner when they served us a genuine A&W root beer float. One of the few places where you can still get these. Sadly, you can’t even get them at A&W anymore lol. All the food was delicious. I love a good all day breakfast and they did not disappoint. Eggs over easy on a bed of hash browns, the yolks were so rich and yellow. Thick sliced bacon and thick toast as well. Their Neptune Eggs Benedict was really well done with perfectly poached eggs with a rich hollandaise sauce over a well seasoned crab cake. The Main Street omelette was BIG, and stuffed to overflowing with mushroom and bacon. Even the baked spaghetti was well done with the spaghetti still firm in a tasty sauce, and crispy & delicious garlic bread. We definitely need to go back for their signature roast lamb!

Have lived in Vancouver for 5 years and can't believe I haven't been here yet. A great breakfast with all the classics and an awesome deal. The special was great with pancakes egg and sausage. The strawberry shakes was amazing as well. The steak and eggs was also amazing and very filling. Will be coming back for sure.

Very nice retro diner. Lots of menu choices and big portions. Food was hot and tasty and really enjoyed it. The booths are a bit tight. Jukebox at each table gives a choice of music for the whole diner for a quarter. Not cheap, but good quality food for reasonable pricing.

Went here again yesterday with my sister. Friendly neighborhood dinner that I will miss because I am moving out of the neighborhood. Everyone is so nice. I love how they have floats here, not a lot of restaurants serve those anymore. The brunch items are pretty good, I do like the egg bennies and hash brown. This place has a cozy and homey feel to it which is cute.

Awesome traditional eatery with old fashioned touches like the original booth seats, counter stools, and even table top jukebox machines! Run by the same family for several decades (apparently the current owner is the nephew of the original proprietor). Shakes are served in a stainless steal malt tumbler (generous size), and beers are in beer mugs. Service is friendly and quick. Great neighborhood joint and very family friendly. We had a tasty NY Steak complete with soup, veggies, garlic bread and creamy potatoes, a Montreal Smoked meat with crispy onion rings (they told me the smoked meat is really from Montreal), and a kid’s pancake breakfast (breakfast is all day on their menu). Portions were more than adequate and at a very fair price. I’m looking forward to my next visit.

Had breakfast at Helen's Grill this morning after seeing it was featured in Sandra Bullock's movie "The Unforgivable". If you're looking for an authentic diner experience, then this is the place to go. Great food and friendly staff but most of all the diner aesthetics make you feel like you walked into a time capsule.

Exceptional attendance to your needs by both waitress and cook! Small family, warm and welcoming 50's atmosphere. People have been loyal to Helen's Grill for decades and they just added another one!

Went the historic Helen's Grill on Main Street in Vancouver. This famous little diner has been in movies and reviewed lots before. It take you back to the days of jukebox on the table and fresh made milkshakes in metal tumblers. There's lots on the menu to choose from. I went for the beef dip with onion rings. Honestly, this was one of the best beef dip I ever had. The flavor of the beef with the grilled onions and melt cheese. The au jus was rich and think perfect for dipping. Price was on the high side for what I ordered. $19 for the sandwich and extra $3 to change to onion rings. I would like to come back and try other items on the menu.

Helen's Grill is a little diner at the corner of Main and King Edward in Vancouver, British Columbia. The interior of the restaurant is old school, just an all around greasy-spoon type joint. If you're craving some good old fashioned comfort food this is the place for you.
When We entered the restaurant We were greeted immediately by a pleasant waitress who sat us at a big 6 seater table right at the front of the restaurant. We hadn't eaten all day and We were STARVING. When the waitress came back over We ordered a Burger and beer just for $12 and some breakfasts which We enjoyed very much, they were definitely different than most We've tried recently, Buttermilk Pancakes with homemade syrup yummy.
We will DEFINITELY recommend this place to our friends and family. We cannot wait to return!

Spoke with Nick after sitting down for my first time ever in this restaurant, not only is he friendly and the staff are amazing, but the food is exceptional and is worth the price. I'm a tourist, and I live further west, but I'd eat here regularly if I could.

The atmosphere is another fantastic part, with awesome music, well kept tables, and colors that blend smoothly all round, your eyes won't be sore from looking around.

The wait time for food was honestly not noticeable, food was fresh and tasted amazing and didn't take a long time to come out.

If you've never eaten here, eat here. If you've eaten here but it's been awhile or was once and haven't since, come back to this place as you won't be disappointed.

Helen's does not dissapoint! We ordered for saturday brunch and everything was delicious. Everything arrived hot and well packaged. The portions were large and satisfying. I can't say enough good things about this community staple. Don't forget to try the fluffy french toast!
