So the wife and I were in Gibsons for her 40th birthday. It was just a short, 2 day trip but much needed.

There was a lot going on over on the mainland, so I wasn't as prepared as I thought I was. For starters, I forgot to arrange a cake.

It was only the two of us so I didn't need anything too big or fancy but that was not the main dilemma. You see, my wife only eats gluten free, so finding a gluten free cake in the last minute on a Monday, in Gibsons was nothing short of a miracle.

Luckilly, the coast is a miracle place to be.

I managed to find Wheatberries which was conveniently located mere minutes away from our place. When I called, they said it may be too last minute for a custom order gluten free cake, but that there was some sort of large, gluten free apple muffin they could put a frosting on for me. I accepted.

To my surprise when I got there the next day, it looked like a legit cake. 6 inches round and topped with a great looking frosting. It was also very reasonably priced.

When I took it back, I didnt know what to expect as I placed on the candles and sang happy birthday. She cut the cake, took a bite and her eyes lit up with joy!

I didn't even have to ask, she loved it.

We both took bite after delicious bite and our verdict quickly took shape. This was the best gluten free cake we had ever eaten. Our only moment of sadness was that it was so big that we may not have been able to finish it. Well, guess what my late night snack was....and breakfast :)

Needless to say, the fine people at Wheatberries were not only a positive and very happy bunch to deal with, but they make some amazing treats we will not soon forget.

We had a breakfast here, regular egg and sausage sandwich and a panini. Both were great and fresh.
I noticed that their signature product is tart with different kind of jams. So many customers came to get one while I was waiting for coffees

DELISH gluten free food!! Not a crazy amount of options but they had a sweet and an savoury which I had both of and was not disappointed! Already planning to go back tomorrow.

Friendly staff and welcoming environment. There are few tables. They have few tasty gluten free option. There is a big parking lot that you can always find a free spot to park.

The management is always friendly and courteous. They have breakfast sandwiches, soup, lunches, teas, specialty coffees, and a wonderful choice of cakes and cookies. The coffee is roasted in house. Enjoy your visit.

Came for a lemon tart and bag of ginger chews - prices well in line with Vancouver and both super tasty. Ginger chews taste almost exactly like those from Whole Foods but chewier and softer so if you are addicted to those, you'll love these too! Note: we first got a bag from IGA, please buy direct and avoid the middleman markup (2min away). Served by a very polite lady so no issues with service either.

Great fresh baked goodies and homemade soup

Because it's my perfect morning or afternoon meeting place. Great homemade soup, fabulous baked goods (all made on the premises). Sandy makes the most exquisite pies (only fresh fruit). The staff are switched on and like most places on the coast, they make an effort to get to know their customers. A cozy atmosphere and outdoor seating is available.

Fantastic coffee and a great assortment of bakery delights. We were very pleased to find some delicious gluten friendly sweet treats! They also have paninis, soup and other light meal offerings.. Including some gluten friendly sandwiches.

The staff is very friendly and treat customers well. We made sure to visit more than once during our stay in Gibsons.

Ginger Decadence! Had it once and couldn’t stop a thinking about it, so went back and bought 2 more! Now my pants are a little bit tighter, but worth it.

We were visiting the Sunshine Coast for the weekend and were so happy to find this wonderful bakery with an Electric Vehicle charging station outside. We plugged our EV in, and sat down to a fantastic muffin and coffee, reading the paper and enjoying the view.

Highly recommended for anyone but especially for EV owners looking to charge while they enjoy the bakery.

Quite simply, these guys rock. Exceptional food and customer service, well above and beyond the normal - from the person who took my order, to the quality of their product.
I had called to order an array of baked goods to be delivered to a local resident who had just come home from the hospital. I was going to use a local delivery service, but the owner dropped the order off personally. I cannot express my surprise at this gesture – truly thoughtful. My cousin-in-law was overwhelmed (with a cookie in hand) and said to me “and it was from Wheatberries, you picked the best bakery…”

Amazing place with cozy, peaceful vibe and outstanding baked goods and espresso! Owned and run by a friendly family. We were so happy to stumble into this gem in Gibsons!

Great coffee and treats. Be sure to try the ginger gems a personal favourite. If you can't make it to the restaurant , they have a stand at the Langdale ferry terminal which carries a fair amount of baked goods.

The coffee is incredible and has even won awards! Delicious food and friendly staff. I stop in here every time I come to Gibsons. Highly recommended :)

Wheatberries has the best oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. I always have to stop here when I'm visiting Gibsons. The atmosphere is comfortable and the staff is always so kind and helpful. Ooo, and the coffee is excellent!

Wheatberries is a locally owned and operated bakery serving great and delicious pastries. A perfect place to seat and have a coffee with a killing muffin while meeting with a friend or client. Pure relaxed Coast style.

Very friendly staff. Really good coffee, so many yummy baked goods it's hard to pick a favorite. Room to relax and enjoy your treats.
