Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital

ER team is amazing! Friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Very clean waiting room and triage rooms. Fast to be put into triage, no long waits to see the doctor and quick blood test. This was on a Saturday. Although I know it might not always be this quick, the team at this hospital should be very proud of the care they are providing!!!

I have read some reviews and I feel compelled to write about my experience with The Smiths Falls Hospital. On Dec 6, I had the misfortune to fall on ice and break my hip. The ambulance was called and off to the emergency room I went. Yes, the emergency room was busy and I was in the hall for 45 minutes but the doctor checked on me and did her best to get me into a room where pain relief was administered and X-rays ordered. The pain during X-rays was excruciating! The staff did their best and couldn’t have been kinder. I was taken to ICU, hip surgery was performed the following day. I did spend 3 nights and 4 days at the hospital and must commend the ambulance medics, nurses, X-ray department, doctors, surgeon and anesthesiologist. My treatment was exceptional, the staff compassionate and professional. I couldn’t have received better care anywhere. To say that I am thankful for these professionals and the Smiths Falls Hospital is an understatement. To each and every staff member, I rate you 5 plus, as it takes an incredible team to offer that kind of service.

A great site of a local hospital. I’m sure people will complain that they don’t get seen fast enough for their sore throat but I’ve never had less than exceptional service, even if I had to wait. Waiting is a symptom of Canadian healthcare, not the hospital.

My son had a compound break and the staff from start to finish was so amazing! They communicated well and took such great care of him. They explained everything that they were doing and helped family stay close and in the loop. Thank you to the whole staff (Emergency, 2nd floor doctors/nurses, OR team). You made our scary situation so much more tolerable. We appreciate you!

I had a procedure at Smiths Falls Site today. Can’t say enough kind words regarding Dr. Kerner and Dr. Gutcher. Pre-Op on site visits, Dr. phone calls, Nurses phone calls. All went exceedingly well. Can’t remember ALL the nurses names, (didn’t see any name tags) BUT I won’t forget their humanity, sense of humour, and kindness. This profession is demanding, and not valued as it should be. Covid wreaked havoc throughout the medical world. I APPRECIATE YOU ALL! A hundred thousand THANK YOU’S -(to paraphrase an ancient Celtic saying).
Dr. Kerner - you should give Master Classes on how to keep a patient informed, with honestly, kindness, and humour. She walks with Gods, but has the common touch. I just love her!
Dr. Gutcher, I thought you were marvellous as well. First time meeting in person but I found you kind, human, funny and exemplary in your administering of anaesthesia. Yay for me! Get those toes wiggling eh!
THANK YOU to the whole staff. From Wendy at Reception, who never steers you wrong, to the Nurse who escorted me out to meet my grandson as soon as the green light was given. We ALL bring a story to the table. Let’s try and remember that. And be kind. And a dash of The Golden Rule wouldn’t hurt either - especially after reading some of these previous reviews. The first time at this hospital and we can't praise them enough.
From the paramedics who brought my husband by ambulance to the nurses and the Drs on duty that evening. They were professional but it was their love, support, compassion and kindness during a time of distress that we saw in each and everyone. We are blessed to have these care workers in our hospital and they need to know how special they are as well.

My first time at Smith’s Falls Hospital. I was in for a colonoscopy. It was very busy that day, the nurses were dealing with a huge backlog of not only colonoscopy patients, but a host of cataract surgeries. My procedure was delayed quite a bit which allowed me to observe the staff for some time. I can honestly say that each and every staff member treated me and all the other patients with kindness, respect and a what I felt was a true caring for our well-being. There were a difficult patients, but each was handled expertly. Thanks to everyone and keep up the great work - I know you are going above and beyond every day.

Everybody has their own experiene when going to a ER, however it usually is not a fun experience. Considering all the difficiulties of the health system at the moment, my own visit could not have been better, and I thank all the staff.

Came in for a CT Scan. Had a great experience. The booking clerk was great and helped me get an appointment that fit into my schedule, the registration clerk was great in helping me find my way to radiology, and the technician was kind and walked me through the whole process.

Smiths falls hospital staff and doctors have always been amazing anytime I’ve had to go to emergency. Tonight I had to go to SF hospital and Doctor Suttie, was on in emergency. He’s an amazing doctor . I was seen rather quickly . I was back home in less than 2 hours. Thank you!!

Gave birth at this hospital a few weeks ago.
Dr Kerner and Dr Wang are amazing doctors and so amazing to me.
The nurses on the maternity ward went above and beyond, I cannot say enough great things about my experience and this hospital.
I would highly recommend them as your obgyn, you will not be disappointed with that choice.

Great hospital. The staff who work here are friendly and helpful. Of course wait times vary depending on what is taking place behind the scenes (which patients in the waiting room are not privy to). Nurses are fast an efficient and will ensure that you are helped immediately if your issue is a real emergency. We are lucky to have such a great, caring group of people servicing our small community.

Went there today for a medical reason, had to go to emergency. The staffs, nurses and doctors were great. They took great care in terms of examining and providing comfort. God bless you all.

I had a very positive experience going to the Smiths Falls location for diagnostic imaging. The wait time to get an appointment was much less than for the Ottawa hospitals, and it's only a ten minute longer drive from where I live to Smiths Falls vs the closest hospital in Ottawa. The nurses and technicians were friendly, the hospital was clean and quiet, I was in and out in no time.

The doctors and staff always go above and beyond especially with everything going on lately. Thank you so much for everything you do guys!

I would like to thank the receptionist and nurse who allowed me to speak by phone to my mother and Doctor Horsey who was treating her while in emergency. All showed incredible competence and heart-warming compassion when family must be separated by this pandemic.

I've had two surgeries at Smiths Falls and am really impressed with the commitment of the nurses and doctors under trying circumstances

I have spent more than my share of time in a hospital and I was treated very well here. The nurses and doctors really listened to what I was saying and did more than I would have expected to help me.
Great environment with good people that talk to you like you are a person.
You cant put a price or value on good people skills. Thank you.

ICU nurses overnight are top notch and compassionate to the patient AND to the family

Cafeteria food is homemade.

I had a very positive experience at Smith Falls Hospital where I attended several pre-op classes and appointments. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Excellent care!
