Main Mini Mart

I was on my way to the Powell Street Festival when I stumbled upon the Main Mini Mart.  It was hot and I needed a bottle of water and there aren't many convenience stores in the area.  I love a store with character and this store has it in spades.  Actually, the entire Downtown East Side is loaded with character.  And the Main Mini Mart is a reflection of that.  It's on a street corner so it's very easy to spot.

The outside of the store has some cool graffiti and it kind of looks run-down in the best way possible.  If you're a photographer, you'd get it.  But if you're a soccer Mom, you probably wouldn't.

The inside of the store is small, cramped and chaotic.  It's got that small town lived-in human vibe, that is very attractive to photographers.  And I suspect it serves the community well in just the way that it needs too. It's not pretentious and that's important in the DTES.

The store clerk was actually a very chill dude who was nice and helpful.  The store had all the basic essentials items that you need. Fir me that was water, and loto tickets.  I bought a scratch and win ticket, but didn't win anything.  However, the Main Mini Mart is a gem of a store with at least a million stories to tell.  So I still feel like I walked away a winner.

I live near by and I go there almost every day. They are super friendly. They treat everyone who comes in with respect and understanding, you can tell when a business cares about their community.

Nice little east van store. Nice staff. They have basic items there. Chips, bar and pop. Good place to go. Felt safe there and they are open late.

Workers are polite and helpful, everything I needed I found without too much looking. Late nite or early morning, all very nice.

There prices for freezes are better than other stores in the area and they don't come across as shoddy business owners!

Nothing really special but convenient. Close to home house what I want when I need it. Can't complain

It's an old building but they carry alot of groceries for having a small space. And the staff are very nice.
