Rise Up Marketplace

Quick stop at a place we'd been meaning to try. Rise Up on Vernon Dr in Strathcona. We were walking home from #EastSideFlea and timing was perfect! Such a little hidden gem!
We picked out a Jamaican patty each and sat outside to enjoy them. Piping hot and tasty... flaky light and gone too quickly... so, back for another 😏
Can't say enough about the warm welcome and cozy feel that accompanied the great food. We can't wait to go back and try the sandwiches.

I popped into Rise Up Marketplace today with my partner on a lovely sunny fall walk through Strathcona.
We had passed a number of people walking by eating Jamaican patties and decided to grab a small bite to tide us over for our walk downtown.

Once inside, we were greeted by the most warm and cordial gentleman who guided us through the menu.
We decided to stay and have grilled sandwiches for lunch.
My partner had the triple grilled cheese and I immediately gravitated to the special - a melted cheese and jerk chicken sandwich.

Absolutely gorgeous sandwiches!
They came promptly with a generous side of crisps.
My jerk sandwich was rich in allspice and cinnamon and had a dash of heat from the scotch bonnet pepper in the mix.
My partner's sandwich was lovely and comforting.

We were rewarded with a sample of homemade cookies for our walk - gratis!
Such warmth and generosity cannot be overstated - we will be back many times.

Will frequently stop in while riding by on the bike route. Jerk chicken, patties, and snickerdoodles are amazing. Love the atmosphere and staff! Will be dropping in for years to come.

This is the best place to grab lunch in Vancouver. Amazing prices for the quality. The staff are super chill and amazingly welcoming, anyone who I’ve recommended this to has left happy.

Visiting from Toronto, heard from word of mouth from foodie friends in the Vancouver area, that this unique place was the spot to check out. Staff is extremely friendly, and the food is excellent. I would highly recommend the Jerk Chicken sandwich , and the Patties are a must have. This shop has a cool concept that is worth checking as they sell stuff from small vendors, and a lot of Natural and homemade products.

Love this black owned business, took my Caribbean husband here for some Jamaican Patties!! They are gooooood! Can’t wait til they get a freezer so we can buy frozen

I really wanted to share how wonderful Roger & Desmond are! We ordered food for our office and they were kind enough to come to our office and grill all their sandwiches fresh! They didn't want us to experience soggy sandwiches and they were completely right

We got the following: Veggie & Beef Jamaican Patties, Jerk Chicken, Grilled Cheese & Sloppy George, Soup & Salad. All were absolutely delicious and super filling. I also loved the fact that the Jamaican patties & the rosemary bread for the sandwiches are made fresh in-house! If you are not sure about getting the soup - do it! We ordered less thinking our team wouldn't eat it all but Roger was scrapping the end of the pot trying to serve more.

They are both so wonderful, they have a dynamic fun energy and made our lunch hour a real break from working. Thank you both for all your help and service! We will be calling you back for another lunch (maybe happy hour event).

Roger makes excellent jerk chicken! The sandwich and patty were perfect. Great jerk spice rubs and marinades to take home as well.

Met the nicest lady working there as i walked in the restaurant! Food was really good had the vegetarian pastries and the snicker’s cookie was amazing

Was walking by Rise Up and grabbed a breakfast sandwich 20 minutes before they even opened! Rags had just come into the store when I arrived and so graciously prepared me something to eat before I had to get into work. Such a cozy community vibe-- and just the absolute nicest people! You can feel the love radiating out of this place.

Eating the sandwich as we speak and it's a wonderful, cheesey melt-y goodness! On some housemade bread too 😍

cozy, unique around my work area. very impressive of the food they are provide in the community. I bought the 4 ready to eat, 6 frozen. Hope my cooking skill can match Rise Up....

Snickerdoodles! They have daily snickerdoodles! This tasty cookie is famous among those with Amish or Mennonite families, and after 10 years in Vancouver, I finally found a place that makes them just like home.

Also delicious are the Rise Up sandwiches & all patties. Honestly, there is nothing sold here that is not excellent and delicious. Get extra and give some to your friends.

Wonderful people, really cute little patio space, and delicious food. Went looking for a vegetarian sandwich and was super happy with what I found here!

So friendly and cool staff and stuff. The smell of fresh bread and fresh croissants is amazing! Pair them with locally made strawberry preserve or jam, yum, YUM!

I love this spot! It’s got a great vibe and will make you forget you’re in Vancouver. The veggie patty with the coco bun is my favourite. Roger is always super welcoming and it’s always a delight coming here :) highly recommend!
