DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cariari San Jose - Costa Rica

What a lovely place. I highly recommend this hotel. The rooms are immaculate and quiet. The bed was comfortable. There is always a cool breeze blowing through the corridors. The breakfast buffet offers an impressive selection of food. I will certainly come back again. The Uber from the airport cost $3.75.

Quick drive from the airport brings you to this elderly yet beautiful property. Drinks we perfect, dinner was tasty, and the patio was cozy. The casino was small and entertaining though we did not make ourselves rich! We had a garden view room that was everything that we needed, a hot shower, a comfortable bed, and decorative wood ceilings! My wife and I were only here for a short 12 hrs before we started out trek across CR but would visit again. ....

We stayed here the night before our flight home. We were very pleased when we saw the lobby, Christmas decorations still up! Room was very spacious. Reception was efficient and friendly. We had a quick cocktail at the poolside bar and then dinner at the restaurant. All very nice.

Comfy bed, nice quiet room with good AC. No road noise and no noise from other guests. Had a great night sleep. Buffet breakfast was good, and great service at the pool bar. They surprised us with an anniversary dessert, what a special treat!

Location is perfect especially being by the airport. Airport shuttle runs every hour but if you are arriving after midnight and you have phone issues then take a taxi. There's construction going on beside the hotel which isn't so bad. The plaza is great if you want to grab snack at Fresh Market or other food.

Food- The hotel's restaurant is delicious as well but expensive. Breakfast buffet is around $20, or you can order meals/room service. We did get complimentary cookies.

Service- The housekeepers were very sweet and the restaurant host was always smiling. Everyone else doesn't even greet or recognize you, they seemed to be tortured or really hated their job which does bring a sad atmosphere for those visiting.

Other amenities- Gym is huge and clean. Didn't Check out the spa. There's a mini souvenir shop. The pool bar was convenient, also very pricey.
Casino was fun, but if you don't purchase a drink you can hear the waitress talking bad about you.. they thought I didn't speak any Spanish.

Suggestions- I wish they had room refrigerators or give out free bottles of water.

I would only stay again because of the pool and hot tub. Overall good stay if you are there for 1 or 2 nights to be shuttled to the airport.

Great location, near a small grocery store, pizza restaurant, and Chinese restaurant. There is an ATM in the grocery store. The rooms are very nice and clean. The pool is beautiful! Incredible fitness center…best I’ve seen in a hotel. They are doing lots of renovations.

We have now stayed here 3 times on each of our trips in CR and will continue to come back.
The open air aspect was really cool and the rooms were very clean.
The pool was fun and they are one of the few places that I visited in CR that has a hot tub.

This is the first time I have stayed at this double tree, love getting the cookie. The hotel is not in a good location to travel to Alujula because the is no direct on ramp to highway 1. There is no fridge in the room. There is a sealed bottle of fresh water. The bed is very uncomfortable for those who suffer hip issues. update: they fixed the bed while he in the hotel and made the stay much nicer. You can hear the people in the next room talking on the phone. The hotel would be good for those who are on vacation, I am on a business trip. I like the gated and secure parking. I like the look of the hotel, very nice and beautiful. Staff are super friendly and mostly speak English.

A little challenging to get to off the highway, but lovely when we arrived. Only 10 minutes from the airport. The staff was attentive, helpful and welcoming. The bar/restaurant overlooks a pool, which has a second bar.

This hotel was so beautiful because it’s designed to be open to the sky. It’s like walking through an open garden conservatory. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Their breakfast buffet is outstanding. The staff were friendly, helpful and engaging. The restaurant is open and airy, right next to the pool. There were lots of beautiful birds for bird watchers and plenty of beautiful plants. There was even a small casino inside. Very beautiful Hilton.

The hotel is absolutely stunning. The staff were all very kind and we enjoyed the enchanting Christmas decorations in the lobby. Our room and bed were very comfortable. The pool and hot tub within the hotel were delightful additions to our overall enjoyment.

We stayed here for a day on January 19, 2024, and it was our first hotel experience in Costa Rica. We were going to Uvita the next day. Double tree made our first day feel like paradise. It truly felt like we were on vacation. The rooms are clean, spacious, and amazing.

Day pass! Brilliant! You get to use the installations, pool, gym, jacuzzi and a room for a whole day! Included breakfast (huge buffette), selected plates for lunch (burger shown) and a snack for coffee time.
The burger is huge and delicious, the sauce to accompany the fries is glorious!
If you want to have a couples outing for a day, this is THE option.

Very nice property clean large rooms, quiet. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Close to outside dining and convenience store. Pool area was nice to relax in.

I had a great experience staying at the Double Tree in San Jose. The customer service was wonderful. The food at the hotel restaurant was delicious. The rooms were clean, spacious and temperature controlled by in room air conditioning. The airport transport was very convenient. The pool area/common areas of the hotel were beautiful and relaxing. I really enjoyed my 1 week stay here. Great food and pool. Too bad bar in pool wasn't open much at all. I also loved location - close to shops and restaurants and the golf course. Tania and Maria Jose were especially great as servers. Will stay again!

One of the best airport hotels I've stayed at. Great for families or couples. Magnificent pool area

We had a great time staying at this double tree! We enjoyed the fitness center, the restaurant, and the executive lounge. I’ll definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to Costa Rica. Alexander and Ramon both went above and beyond to ensure that we had a great stay!
