Excellent experience with a group of 6. Our guide Dio was extremely knowledgeable, fun, and tried to make sure we all got to see the animals we were looking forward to! Felt very safe and would recommend this to anyone interested in a night walk

Our guide was very knowledgeable, personable and fluent English. The small group setting is perfect. We saw armadillo, lots of birds, kinkackew (no clue if that’s how you spell it). The leaf cutter ants parades were huge. 12” wide and travelled forever through the forest.

We came here for the night tour. Stephen was our tour guide who seemed pretty bored about the tour but guided us through the forest and answered our questions. You’re given flashlights to help your footing. The tour lasted about 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs and was easy. The trails are not challenging (which is great since it’s in pitch black) and not very steep. We luckily saw a couple of sleeping birds (toucans), a pit viper, sloths, and a sleeping monkey. I felt safe throughout the whole tour and even found the darkness comforting at times … at least until Stephen pointed out the pit viper.

Best experience ever! Our guide Roy was really nice, he started the tour by setting expectations upfront and then took us through different paths. We spotted some cool snakes, insects, and birds! Roy was kind enough to capture the pictures on our phone through his scope.

The guides have a cooperative network where if one spots something interesting, they notify the rest - that way we all get to see it!

We saw so many different animals: a snake, birds, spiders, a butterfly, a sloth, an owl, frogs, and an armadillo. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and was great at pointing out the animals for us to see.

This tour delivered as promised! I was a bit leery upon arriving and finding hordes of people waiting to do the night tour, but it turned out really well. I was part of a group of four, including our most excellent guide Dio. We saw a lot of the flora and fauna of the area, including two-toed sloths, various birds, walking sticks, tarantulas, frogs, and so on. Our guide was incredibly adept at spotting animals and bugs.

Was a little hesitant to do this tour since there is a chance you don’t see much, but I’m so glad we did. Justin was awesome. He found us a sloth, porcupine, toucan, viper and much more.

The guides split up into groups of 6, and they communicate between each other if they find something cool.

Our Guide, Dio, was great. We saw lots of creatures and he was in contact with other guides through out the tour in order to see other things that were not on our path. Sloths, Vipers and other animals that we otherwise would not of seen. He had almost 2 decades of experience and it was easy to tell. He easily found things that we would have never seen. A little expensive but worth the money for a 1 time thing.

First visit to Costa Rica from the US and our small party (2 adults, 2 teens) were paired up with another couple. Our guide was Dio, who was fantastic. They gave us flashlights to use and Dio had an amazing flashlight with a scope so we could see animals in the trees. We saw a sloth, sleeping toucan, and two vipers. The only drawback is us wanting to stay out longer!

Good experience. We saw sloths, sleeping birds, gecko and lizards. We only wished our guide would have a scope. Would recommend for the overall experience.

We had a fantastic time with Marvin. He was knowledgeable and fun! I know you cannot be guaranteed to see any animals in a natural setting but we saw several snakes, a frog, a couple of birds and a pair of Walking Sticks. Would recommend this tour to all!

Super fun tour! We did this as a last minute/spontaneous tour and our group of 5 really had a blast seeing the nighttime animals of Costa Rica. We saw two-toed sloths, snakes, a toucan (sleeping), monkeys, spiders, stick bugs, owls, frogs and some other creepy crawlers. Our tour guide was very nice, experienced and was able to answer all of our questions. I definitely recommend this tour for anyone. Be prepared to walk up and down inclines and stairs in the dark, the flashlights they give you are good for watching your step, guiding you, but are not SUPER bright. The tour guide brings along a very bright flashlight and a telescope. He helped us take good photos through the telescope which was a great perk.

This is a really cool tour to take. Our guide “Dio” was excellent and was able to find a ton of things to show us in the pitch black (which was impressive in itself)—insects, snakes, spider, frogs, Tucan/birds and even a sleeping monkey. 10/10 would do this tour again.

We had a great time. It was pouring down rain, but that didn't stop our group. The guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. We found 10+ animals. Well worth it.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. He took the time to help us get great pictures of all the different wildlife. Definitely worth doing if you are in Monteverde!

Our tour guide Dio was so knowledgeable and had such an amazing eye for spotting things in the dark! We learned many awesome facts about the forest and wildlife! We got to see a keel billed toucan, long tailed manakin, golden browed chlorophonia, side stripe pit viper, rufous eyed stream frog, a tarantula and countless other critters! Highly recommend to anyone visiting Monteverde!
