Whale Tail Hotel

The kindest hotel staff I've ever experienced or imagined. Truly the nicest manager and her extraordinarily supportive staff. I was in Uvita for a week, spending only few days & nights here after very poorly adjusting to the climate and they went above & beyond to help me with various things and showing me compassion, helping me to feel safe in my first solo adventure outside of the United States.
They have a pool, a lovely lawn, good breakfast and smoothies, an associated restaurant & bar, a shared kitchen with fridge & heating elements, lockers for your stuff, an AC hostel room or separate motel style rooms or nicer detached cabanas (very cute), and a short walk to really nice restaurants & markets.
I rarely do reviews but they deserve more than 5 stars in my experience. I don't have a large frame of reference for hotels in Costa Rica but I'd definitely come back here again with friends & family!

The Whale Tail Hotel is a gem! We had an awesome time. Kid and pet friendly but still very cool and chill vibes, the shared spaces are awesome. We met really cool people staying here and enjoyed our time a lot - we can’t wait to come back!

They have a pool with a slide, a hammock area, tables for breakfast or to get some work done, a kitchen to prepare your own food as well as a yummy breakfast and juice, coffee and tea available for free throughout the day.

They also have things like yoga mats, board games, a covered picnic table with bbq and a field with soccer nets which was super fun. Rooms are very simple but comfortable, staff is helpful and friendly. The space was relaxing and fun.

On weekends the brewery has bands come through, music ended by 10pm. The bands were so good we actually had to walk over and check them out because they were so talented! If you want a great place to stay, whether traveling solo, with a furry friend or your family, this place is excellent value, close to everything and like I said, I real gem.

Stayed here for 2 weeks. Amazing spot in Uvita! Great large property with pool, attached bar, lots of hammocks. Full kitchen to use. The staff were wonderful and welcoming. Close to lots of things to do in Uvita. Great fast wifi that works well for video calls. There’s a nice brewery/pub attached too.

What a great place to stay. So reasonably priced great atmosphere and a delicious breakfast. The staff is so friendly, the pool was lovely and I enjoyed sitting in the hammocks for hours on end.

Very friendly reception and kitchen crews. I stayed in one of the dorms—they have plenty of lockers, and were willing to loan a small lock for no fee. Very tasteful grounds include plenty of parking that is not intrusive.

This Uvita resort is like a mini nature reserve. Great pool and grounds. Quiet, peaceful, safe and welcoming. The owner is super chill and goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you need. Great for families and a great price.

Chill place that checks all the boxes at a great price: sparkling clean, A/C, private bathroom with hot shower, airy communal area with hammocks and full bar - even a pool. Under new management since the spring that's very helpful and keeps the place running smoothly.

Awesome place and vibe - love the pool & breakfast was delicious also was amazing with the live music, aeril arts and yoga!

This place felt like home immediately and the staff was incredibly welcoming. Good location closer to the waterfall than most other accommodations and also walkable to a fair amount of shops/restaurants for basic necessities.

Great place with great staff. Whale tail is a beautiful hostel with a pool and a view.

Hôtel de choix pour le rapport qualité prix. Personnel accueillant et chaleureux, lieu propre , piscine , terrain et emplacement avantageux. Les déjeuner offert sont excellent.

Sans oublier l'adorable Vielka ( Manager) qui est incroyable . Je recommande sans hésitez

Magnifique expérience !!! La personne de l'accueil est tres souriante et accueillante nous avons même plus voir un paresseux grâce à elle, un moment inoubliable !! La piscine est très agréable on peut y contempler toutes sortes d'oiseaux. Je recommande vivement ☺
