Arte de Plumas Birding Lodge

The best place to stay in Costa Rica. Very open atmosphere. Fantastic food. Large meeting rooms with breath taking views. Walk to the creek. The weather never changes more than 10 degrees. No humidity on our stay. Lots of beautiful birds & hummingbirds eat from hand make great photographic moments. We will be back….

My first time here in a photographic vacation. This was the most amazing place I have ever stayed at. The birds were beautiful to photograph. Hummingbirds eat from my hands. Very nice creek. The food was very very delicious. Everyone was friendly. Had a great massage. The room was very comfortable & the view spectacular. I love this place & I’ll be back soon…

We see many different species of birds. Very unique and beautiful. Food are delicious. Rooms are clean. The staff are very friendly. I do like to come again.

I stayed here for four days. It was a very enjoyable experience. Food is very delicious. The manager Andrey is very helpful and patient, when we were trying to take photos of the local special bird sunbittern.

As an amateur bird photographer, this is my first birding trip to Costa Rica. Very unusual and exciting experience at Arte de Plumas birding lodge. Their staff was very helpful & knowledgeable on birds. Very nice hotel , room was spacious and clean, food was really delicious. Highly recommend !

Andrey really went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. He offered to take us a local spot where sunbitterns are often seen. We saw it! The birding on the grounds is good. The opportunities to photograph hummingbirds are quite good. They also have a UV light to attract moths and other insects.
The rooms are fine, clean, and modern. A full breakfast is included which we enjoyed. You can also have lunch and dinner for an extra cost. Dinner was good. We found this place to be a good value.

I recently visited Arte De Plumas birding lodge and was very impressed with the abundant amount of birds that frequent the lodge. The rooms are spacious and clean, the food is excellent, and the staffs are very friendly and courteous! I had a very good experience here and will definitely return in the near future

Beautiful Lodge located in a peaceful little town , surrounding with green rolling hills. Very nice place for wildlife photographer’s family vacation. Thinking about wakes up in the bird’s morning chore , eat delicious local food, beautiful little bird just by your side , what a heavenly like place for the bird lover vacation

Stayed here for a few days and absolutely LOVED it. The location is stunning, the room itself was perfect, the weather is divine.. If you like birds, or are into wildlife photography, they have multiple locations set up for all kinds of different birds. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly-- Freddy even personally drove me down to a known sunbittern location one morning, and helped me get the classic shot of the bird with its wings open. The food deserves a separate mention as well- Doña Isabel is an amazing chef who made us delicious vegan meals every day.
If you are into nature, I 100% recommend this place. There is an 8km trail through the forest as well, and the surrounding area is rife with wildlife, on top of the huge variety of animals that visit the location itself.

I will definitely be back!

I highly recommend Arte De Plumas, it is a very modern and clean birding lodge. It has spacious rooms with a relaxed ambiance and mountain or garden views. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you want to see wildlife and experience bird photography and diverse tropical nature, then this is the place for you!

Visited this gorgeous lodge!! This was a surreal experience of my lifetime! There were 4 things that got my attention in this mid elevation mountain lodge.

The guidance of world renowned bird photographer Randy Wei’s was just priceless in the Costa Rican jungle. I am now a bird photographer.
The highly acclaimed and immensely experienced Father / Son Ornithologists - Birders (combined 45 years +) and nature tour operators Freddy & Andrey Madrigal was full of knowledge and was very down to earth and helpful in world birds and in Central American Tours and arrangements.
The wonderfully appointed rooms in the lodge were open to the nature with glass walls wowed me a lot!
Finally, to top it all off, Chef Daisy gave a very custom experience in the culinary aspect that was divine!

I highly recommend you to take your family and feel the same out of the world experience. I will surely go here multiple times.

Amazing view of nature. Prepare enough memory cards, this is a place where you can't stop taking pictures. It's worth experiencing for yourself.
