The Libeň Cemetery covers an area of 1.69 hectares and has over 10,000 buried in more than 160 tombs, 2,400 graves and about 350 urn graves. The new cemetery in Libeň was opened and consecrated on November 5, 1882, and it began to srve for burying the same day. The old cemetery for Prosek, Střížkov, Libeň and Vysočany ceased to be sufficient and in the years 1872 - 1873 was already overfull. In the course of time, the new Libeň Cemetery was extended to another part, consecrated on 12 March 1886. After World War I, a third cemetery was established and during 1946 urn graves were established here.
