Café Elefant

Our favorite cafe in the Czech Republic. For those who are very demanding in terms of delicious deserts that’s the right place for you. Unique cakes with a little bit of Italy and a little bit of France in the heart of Europe. We visit Cafe Elephant each time we travel to Karlovy Vary and I must admit it becomes more and more delicious and absolutely there is no such place not only in Karlovy Vary but also in the Czech Republic.

We came to this historic Cafe to experience the heritage. I gotta days the ambiance and decor were simple yet classy. We shared a quiche with salmon, light and airy. The desserts are beyond amazing. We had a pistachio dessert with raspberry cream inside and a chocolate dessert with ganache filling. Both were heavenly and very light, yet rich in flavor and not too sweet. I appreciate the level of detail such as placing a small chocilate elephant brand emblem on each cake. Check this beautiful Cafe out and try to grab a swat on the second floor balcony for stunning views.

Your delicious cakes made my birthday unforgettable. They are tasty and elegant, we enjoyed our time and we will definitely come again ☺

We tried 4 different cakes and all of them were extremely fresh and delicious! It's a must go place! I highly recommend the Medovik cake.

Absolutely the best pastries in town, excellent coffee, pleasant and professional waitstaff - after two weeks in Karlovy Vary, we have come to Elefant every single day. We've tried out other restaurants around the city and their desserts each evening, and started coming into Elefant for dessert before dinner (!), because why waste our time when we already found the best! From our New Yorker perspective, the place is also quite reasonably priced for such a touristic destination. I imagine in warmer months it's even more magical to sit outside on the waterfront.

I was very happy to see french pastries in Karlovy Vary, and a lot of other type of dessert and food choices in Café Elefant. At first, my husband and I were a bit confused, because you enter the café where there are all the cakes that you can look at, and then you're supposed to go sit upstairs and they will bring you a menu with photos of everything and stating what it is in different languages. We stood downstair a little while not knowing that. 😅 Anyway, it makes picking easy, so great idea ! At around 10h on a thursday, the café was pratically empthy. It looks very elegant inside (although the velvet bench looks like it could use some cleaning). The workers were all very nice and friendly. The coffee was very good. The cakes were good too. Not a bad Paris-Brest by any means, although I prefer the ones I ate in France, but that's a question of taste. It wasn't too sweet which is good. I found the raspberry macaron pastry delicious, too sweet but macarons are always very sweet so nothing strange. A bit pricy, if you go to the famous pastry names in Paris you would pay the same price for their cakes than you do at Café Elefant. But again, it's nice to have this kind of choice in a little city of Czech ! I'm pretty sure we would come again next time we visit Karlovy Vary, so I look forward to that 🙂

The cakes are fantastic. Not only do they look great, they are also very tasty. We loved reading through the menu, as the translations are not always accurate but hilarious - particularly the German translations. Great read!

The best croissant I have ever eaten in CZ..😋and they put their goodies into these cute small boxes for take away..😍

Nice Café in the most beautiful spot of Karlovy Vary. The history of this place is 300 years old and ongoing.
I recommend a sitting place on the first floor on the outside. It's more comfortable then on the streets.
The cakes and tarts are amazing! Every sweet is a exploration of taste. It's like a symphony for your tongue.
10/10 Would eat here again.

First-class desserts. Although the price is higher, the quality and taste is impressive to excellent. Staff with a smile on their face with a great conversation. In nice weather very nice sitting on the terrace near the colonnade. I recommend to all!!

Nice place to treat yourself with a home-made dessert. Has both indoor and outdoor seating, fast service. Popular with both local crowd and tourists, the place offers a variety of cakes, pastries, few snack and breakfast options

Lovely experience, my 2nd time. Very poised and nice waitresses. Coffee and the cakes were simply mind-blowing. Looked good but tasted very good indeed. The most beautiful moment was the waiter *Jura* from Ukr. What a gentleman. And a fine young man who took time to greet and made us comfortable. We did have a very nice chat with him. Great place to have your morning coffee, great coffee, the prices maybe not the cheapest in the area, but the cakes well made , have wonderful rich taste, may be the one of the best diserts i have ever ate. The staff is polite we had great service from the lady serving upstairs i decently recommend this place

Great place for dessert and cappuccino :) I'd recommend with walnut torte and Eggs Benedict on waffle 🧇. The interior is beautiful on the 2nd floor with chandeliers and a nice view of the promenade. I will return!
