Cloak Bridge

The Cloak Bridge is part of the Český Krumlov Castle, featuring a spectacular exterior and structure. From the bridge, you can overlook the beautiful scenery of Český Krumlov and the Vltava River that encircles the town. It’s an excellent spot for photography, making it a place you won’t want to miss.

Definitely a great place to visit. It is an architectural beauty in the form of a castle in cesky krumlov. It is quite a hike to reach the top prt but the view is amazing.

It's beautiful. I adore this fairytale city. I secretly dream about living here. There is something new to discover every time. It just doesn't stop to amaze me.

An amazing technical monument and one of the biggest local architectural sights. The first mention of the Cloak (Mantle) Bridge (then still wooden) dates back to the 15th century. The bridge spans the castle moat on the western side of the Upper Castle, where the fortifications used to be called Cloak. Hence the name. The object stands on stone pillars with arches. The three main pillars extend over the road of the bridge connecting IV. and the 5th courtyard of the castle and support two corridors above each other. The lower one connects the Masquerade Hall with the chateau theater and the upper chateau picture gallery with the chateau garden. The communication of the upper connecting corridor continues through the roof trusses of the chateau to the Minorite monastery on Latrán. Today, unfortunately, it is impassable - this must be the most interesting corridor!

Úžasná technická památka a jedna z největších místních stavebních pozoruhodností. První zmínka o Plášťovém mostě (tehdy ještě dřevěném) pochází už z 15. století. Most překlenuje hradní příkop na západní straně Horního hradu, kde bývalo opevnění zvané Plášť. Z toho je odvozován název mostu. Stavba stojí na kamenných pilířích s oblouky. Tři hlavní pilíře jsou protaženy nad komunikaci mostu spojující IV. a V. nádvoří zámku Český Krumlov a podpírají dvě nad sebou jdoucí chodby. Spodní spojuje Maškarní sál se zámeckým divadlem a vrchní zámeckou obrazárnu se zámeckou zahradou. Komunikace horní spojovací chodby dále pokračuje přes krovy střech zámku až do minoritského kláštera na Latránu. Dnes je bohužel neprůchodná.

Great looking bridge, and not that common
You either go under the bridge or on the bridge
When you wanna go onto the bridge, you have to go through the castle or castle gardens
Otherwise the bridge is just great for pictures

An absolutely gorgeous bridge as far as bridges go. It got us from one side to the other. The best view however is from the river. It’s well worth looking at it from all angles
