For views of the city and a unique experience, book tickets to climb the 400 steps of Bolt Tower.my six-year-old daughter and I visited in August on a Tuesday afternoon. Here’s our experience.

1) Tickets: They offer tours, but we opted for tickets to the cafe at the top. It cost 200 CZK for me and my daughter was free. You have to buy the tickets online or at the info center, not at the actual Bolt Tower.

2) Experience: It doesn’t take long to climb all the stairs, but at almost every level there are things to see and read to learn about the old coal mine.

Almost to the top is the small cafe that serves coffee, beer, wine, etc. They also have clean restrooms.

3) Area: Once done, walk around the campus to find a science center, cafes, bars, etc.

Wonderful experience for fans of urban and industrial aesthetics, beauty of decay and destruction.

Bolt tower observation platform is reachable by elevator, then you can walk up and enjoy the view. Worth visiting!

Dolni Vitkovice is a huge area where you can easily spend a half of a day just wandering around toothless rusty sleeping beasts. Not crowded at all during working days. Guided tours, museum, gallery, cafés - quite good infrastructure. The territory is not abandoned for luck, it's full of afterlife.

Don't forget to buy postcards at U6 gallery and stamp them with wonderful trademark ink stamps at the infocenter.

If you’d like to see Ostrava industrial party of city from bird perspective, that’s the right place. In the price of ticket is also 100 CZK offer to compensate spending at the tower restaurant. Amazing view to the city and Beskydy mountains, bit adrenaline walk outside is top highlights. You can combine visit with the guide tour at old steel factory.

We went on a guided tour in English and it was fabulous. We learned so much about iron ore and the process of making steel. Our guide Samuel was knowledgeable amd made the tour really interesting. Thank you.

It was a new experience. It's not about nature or architecture. But immersion in the era of industrialization: metal, huge structures, many pipes, rust, and again metal.
Everything is safe and free

Bolt Tower is a unique tourist attraction in the industrial area of Dolni Vitkovice. The place was started as early as in 1830 and stopped operating in 1998. Soon after it become a national heritage site. It was used for producing iron metals in several furnaces. The Bolt Tower itself is built as an extension of furnace No. 1. It is great piece of architecture (by Josef Pleskot) and definitely worth visiting. Do not go there if you afraid of hights and only guided tours are allowed. So it is advised to book the tickets in advance.

You wouldn’t expect to find a shiny place like this located within the retired foundry/metalworks, but it is a neat experience. Make a reservation in advance to enjoy the café, which gives you some neat views of the surrounding area while sipping coffee. Test your nerves by walking in the circular, graded walkway around the tower.

Really good experience! Call them couple of hours before you arrive, reserve a tour or a table in the café 70m high at the top of the factory tower. Price is 200czk, contains 100czk voucher in the café. Try it if you are in Ostrava!

Great view around Ostrava's industrial heritage and great technical monument. Former metallurgical tower was rebuild into lookout tower and café. One can also take guided tours.
