Hotel Residenz Passau

After staying at the HOTEL IMPERIAL this was a very nice surprise for a brief stay in Passau. VERY CLEAN and the breakfast service was excellent. They really go out of their way to be hospitable.

Lovely, relaxing library!

What a nice surprise! My cousin and I after a drive from Vienna wanted a place that was reasonably priced, very clean and with a great breakfast. We could not have been happier. Its a little jewel in Passau. They dont serve dinner but there are a lot of options close by. At breakfast the staff goes out of their way to accomodate you. We needed our luggage stored the next day while we explored Passau and attend an organ concert. NO PROBLEM. While we waited to board Viking....as we found out later...ugh!...they have a lovely library/sitting room that was very comfortable....no extra charge. Now, Viking should come here to learn how to make a customer feel like at home. The staff were extremely nice. It was like stopping over to spend the night with relatives. I would have much rather spent one more night here than on that barge.

My career demands me to travel. Its just nice to find a place that feels like home and you just arent a NUMBER.

We were passing through for two nights bike-packing.
There was safe bike storage.
Best of all, was the laundry service! We were able to fill a bag for 15€ and got it back the next day fresh, clean and dry. Such a help when you are self-supported biking!

Me and my husband had a lovely stay at this Hotel. Very clean rooms, friendly staff and amazing Breakfast. I would totally recommend this place for a comfortable stay.

This is a very modern and comfortable hotel. Our room was quite large and the bathroom was high end. It had a rainfall shower (additionally to the regular shower) and it looked very new.
I would advise against the patio room, because the neighbors can see into you room unless you close the shades, which is highly unpractical in summer if you want to leave the windows open.
The breakfast is really really good. I would say one of the best breakfasts I had in a hotel sofar. There are bio and self-made products, very tasty and you have a rich choice.
In case you travel by car ask the hotel in advance for a parking spot. You must remember you are in the historical part of Passau, where parking is limited.

5+ stars for this wonderful Riverside retreat. The rooms are immaculate and stocked with essentials. The staff are friendly, speak English, and more than accommodating. One thing that stuck out to me was when I was sitting in the lovely canopied garden, the staff asked me if I needed anything by name. It's the little things like this and more you can expect from this fine establishment. Bravo!

Really lovely hotel on the riverside. Friendly staff, great breakfast. Comfortable and clean rooms with the welcome addition of tea/coffee making facilities and air-con. Parking available at a small fee in a covered parking garage.
Well placed for exploring the town and sightseeing.
We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend the hotel to others.

This place is excellent. Very comfortable, quiet rooms. The breakfast on the patio was wonderful. 10/10 would stay again!

Helpful staff, great views overlooking the Danube. Rooms are smallish, but very clean and practical: hardwood flooring, Nespresso machine, overhead shower in practical but tiny bathroom. Amenity kit and towel warmer. Solid breakfast with great selection of speciality breads, cut meats, egg dishes etc. Parking in tight garage needs to be negotiated, but was plentiful.

During our tour of Europe we stayed at a number of Hotels's all rated 4 stars by Trip Advisor. Only one was worthy of the rating and that is Hotel Residenz. This hotel exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was excellent as is the room. The only complaint I would have is the hardness of the mattress and pillow. The location of the hotel is prime water front and our room directly overlooked the Danube. My wife and I think this is the best by far. We now measure all of our stays against the Hotel Residenz.

5 stars is not enough for the Residenz. The room was quiet as a mouse for sleeping, the bed was most comfortable and the view of the river and the Fortress on the hill from the room was delightful. 112, 115 are both great rooms. Being able to walk to the many restaurants was great. (But why would you when there is a great one in house.) Make sure you get a book on the town, there is more to see than you can pack into a day. The breakfast was fantastic, every small detail was taken into account. Sitting on the balcony looking over the river was very relaxing. The coffee was not a one cup affair but a stainless steel jug on your table so you can top up. (I had 3 cups from the jug) If your tired after walking through the day, return for a drink and rest. The staff were faultless and went the extra mile. We went on a cruise for a week and when we returned they remembered where we were going and asked about the trip. It felt like we had come home. The building itself was also fascinating, there is a room for relaxing or catching up with visitors which contains books, photos and pieces of interest. At the entrance there are umbrellas in case the weather turns. Put the Residez and Passau on the top of your must visit list. A very generous Hotel in a Surprising town.

The best hotel I stayed. I travel alone and stayed in a lot of hotels most of the time the dont pay any attention to me. The service whas great the staff are correct and really kind. Rooms where so clean I whas surprised I going to come back to dis place thats for sure

Fantastic suite with private sauna and very friendly staff. Bed was very comfortable and the suite had a well equipped kitchen.
