Aussichtspunkt Tagebau Hambach

I guess this is the only free observing point from the south part of the mine. The view is really impressive, it is possiblle to see most part of the mine and different mechanisms, but on the weekends probably most of them will be still. Far away there are three plants that produce a lot of smoke, which add atmosphere. Take some binoculars or camera with good zoom.
Unfortunately it is quite hard to get here - take the first turn to the right when you are at Am Tagebau road and follow almost circle around the railroad, verify way with maps - there is no pointers, but anyway all other roads are closed with signs "Do not enter". The viewpoint is in good condition (it is a platform with handrails).

We had the spot to ourselves! It is an incredible lookout and short detour if traveling between Cologne and Aachen.

Worth a stop to see! Quite the impressive operation. There is a 'private' road that you need to cross to get to the parking spot. You then climb some stairs to get to the platform.

This whole mine will be turned into a huge lake, so don't wait too long!

The site is just enormous. I would bring some binoculars for a future visit.

This is baffling. A hole in the ground the size of a city to take away lignite to make energy. Very dirty energy.
Not beautiful per se, but a must watch if you're nearby.

Interesting vue point on a big open mine. This makes you think about what we are doing to our planet.

Falls man in der Nähe ist sollte man sich das einmal anschauen. Ein sehr großes beeindruckendes Loch .Die riesigen Schaufelbagger sehen von weitem sehr klein aus. Da wird einem erst bewusst wie groß das Loch ist.
Überall stehen Plakate und Schilder Achtung Lebensgefahr ,videoüberwachung usw.

Muss man einfach mal gesehen haben! Die Größe ist so unglaublich beeindruckend…

Wenn man hier in der Nähe vorbeikommt unbedingt mal anschauen.

Parken kann man gleich unterhalb vom Aussichtspunkt

Entgegen der Aussage am Eingang vom RWE Haupteingang, hat dieser Aussichtspunkt doch auf. Man hat einen guten Blick in die Grube. Auch die Kinder konnten was mitnehmen. Es gibt einen Weg zu einer Treppe, von der aus man gut sehen kann. Aber es gibt keinen rollstuhlgerechten Zugang.

Das macht einem die Ausmaße um die es in den ganzen Nachrichten immer geht erst Mal bewusst. Wie viele dörfer dieses Loch geschluckt hat...

Fajne miejsce na spacery, wśród zieleni i ciszy. Ścieżka zbudowana pośród położonych na ziemi ściętych drzew, które zniszczyła burza w 2007r. Chodzi się ścieżka dookoła. Toaleta i poddasze z grillem na piknik idealne. Polecam na relax
