Must-visit while in Baden-Baden. It’s a short drive up the mountain (warning: narrow street) with plenty of parking up top. And it’s amazing how you can just keep climbing stairs up and up to the top of the ruins. The views from the very top are stunning. The ruins are in very good condition and they’ve added rails throughout to make it safer. Highly recommend - even our teenagers were impressed!

We did not eat at the restaurant, but it looked nice. The castle says it “closes” at 8pm, but I think that’s just when they stop serving food. We waltzed in at 7:30 to explore the ruins and stayed until 8:30 without any problems.

Very beautiful scenery.
A big parking lot.
Free intrance. The opening time is a bit reduced due to the restaurant being under renovation.
Yet few drinks and snacks are sold at the entrance.
The view of the valley is amazing and the visit is well organized so that it is possible to visit every level of the past castle.
Must do.

A great castle with incredible panoramic views of the Baden area.

Free to access.

Stairs are sturdy, but not many ramps or elevators. Not handicap accessible.

Restrooms available, free.

Sometimes there is a restaurant and a snack counter at the bottom, but it is temporarily close and opens again in May 2024.

What a gem of a castle! Lovely to explore, with breathtaking views and quite a bit to explore! That too free of charge, with free parking nearby and a lovely area where you can have delicious bites if you’re hungry or just a drink to relax. Totally recommending it!

This was an amazing day for us. We parked below and hiked up to the castle. Most ruins I have been to are not this expansive. We had access to pretty much the entire place. It was not crowded. The views were amazing. The restaurant is not currently open. It was a beautiful drive to a beautiful place. This is easily my favorite casle ruins I have been to in Germany. There are no tickets or tours that I saw. There is parking very close to the castle.

Really cool old castle with spectacular views and some great walking paths through the forest. We spent about an hour and a half here to explore the ruins and go for a walk. It was free entry into the castle and although it was a weekend, it wasn’t too busy.

Amazing place. Great view, good walk. Peaceful, serene. The reataurant was closed for renovation, but the castle was open. You can take stares up untill the too. The view is breathtaking. Easily spend 2/3 hours if not more.

Every corner and level will give you different view. A place away from the crowd and hustle of the city, and mesmerising view.

Can be moe focused on cleanliness.

Beautiful place to visit! Beautiful views and at the entrance there is a biergarten to enjoy a good beer!
Early morning is highly recommended because the light, parking lot and as the castle is located in a beautiful forest area is a pleasure to hike.

It was a truly amazing surprise.
The castle is in really good condition, super safe inside too. It is pet friendly!
The wind harp was my favourite.
There is a parking place and clean bathrooms at the entrance.

As an American visiting this place, it was an amazing experience. I walked/hiked/jogged from Baden-Baden and had no issues with the signage in German nor the maps online to find this area. This place was public/free access… aka no fees/charges for entry. I highly recommend going in the morning so you can look out over the area and see the mist, clouds, hear the bells from Baden-Baden, etc. There’s also food carts near the entrance with food and beverages, as well as a play area for children. The hike from Baden-Baden wasn’t that bad either. I went solo and had no difficulty finding the place nor did I feel like I was lost or anything like that. It did get rather quiet along the gravel path between the town and the area leading up to the castle ruins, but it was very peaceful. I would go back in a heartbeat. I went super early in the morning before anything was open/attended and had no problems or issues getting in as it appeared to be open regardless in the morning hours. If going here from town on foot like me, I recommend bringing water.

Amazing castle even though it has deteriorated. You can just imagine what it was like hundreds of years ago. The hiking trails leading out are amazing and if you pay attention you can see the history all around and with the way the roads were built. Beautiful Rock formations all around the trails. Breathtaking views. Would have been nice if the restaurant or if there was a hut to relax and have a drink but all is good.

Awesome Ruins, made a bit safer with railings so you can climb to the top.

Walk from BadenBaden is an effort, 3km, 50min, 230m rise & not the clearest to follow on Google maps :-(

Medieval castle ruins along a pleasant hiking trail. Quite interesting to walk around and very little foot traffic. No signage or historical info on site. Beautiful views, especially from the topmost tower.

Great! Impressive! You need a car to get there, but walking on foot makes this visit to the castle even more impressive from the landscapes you see and the magnificence of the views of the city. The castle is great and great views of the city. For young people, a walk will be an additional entertainment. I recommend!

Loved it! The view was spectacular and the reconstruction gives a full picture of how it was in the past. Free entrance and a lovely restaurant, however you should check in advance opening hours. If you are well prepared with hiking shoes don't miss one of the recommended walks.
