Mercure Hotel Trier Porta Nigra

I stayed for 4 nights, alone for a business trip. Great experience. The staff is extremely friendly. The location is fantastic. Clean. Neat. All the best recommendations. I had a late check-in at 1am and everything went smoothly.

Excellent hotel, as expected from Mercure. The room was clean and welcoming. Good view. Service was okay but not excellent. The hotel restaurant opens from 17:00 so just dinner. Excellent location for tourists. The rooms are not soundproofed but understandable due to its old building. Overall a great place to stay for a night or two for travel.

Excellent location and extremely clean and comfortable. Breakfast rather expensive at 22 Euro per person.

The staff are quite friendly, the location is amazing, you can really enjoy the view from the window with a cup of coffee.

Everything perfect except for the checkout on departure. We opted for the quick card drop-box checkout procedure and gave payment card details on arrival. Dropped off the room keys on departure but the payment card details had not been verified the previous evening which resulted in a few phone calls to sort out the issue after we had departed the hotel.

The outside of the Hotel does not look that interesting but the inside makes most certainly up for it. The Hotel itself is located as central as it gets, right opposite of the world-famous Porta Nigra and the entrance to the Pedestrian Only area of Trier. Parking and Check in was a breeze and as a platinum Accor Member by status was recognized with the welcome drink and room upgrade to a higher floor (I had already booked a room with a view of the Porta Nigra). Sadly I was not told that on weekends I would have also had free breakfast as Platinum member but that is a minor thing in my book. There was also a lovely welcome note and a gift in the rather spacious room. The room itself was very large for a Mercure anywhere in the world and even had windows that opened fully (I made use of that to take photos of the Porta Nigra during my stay without the nasty glare of window glass). The bathroom is spacious and the room even has a desk with a Nespresso Machine and Water jug (a novelty in German Hotels as I found out...). I enjoyed my evening Drink on their outside roadside terrace with the view again towards the Porta Nigra and the same for breakfast which was exceptional. Many of our NZ hotels can learn from this one for sure. Every taste was catered for and again THAT view. All in all I have to say this was a surprising stay and I will be back for sure.

Check in was efficient and friendly. Accommodations were great with a good view of the Porta Nigra.
Breakfast was all you can eat with excellent selections. The dinner was all you can eat as well with many selections that were tasty. Room was excellent with great service to change out towels and sheets. The hotel is well located near all the sights.

The location of the hotel is in the heart of the action and you can walk to most attractions. There are several excellent restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.
The breakfast at the hotel is also excellent.

This hotel is in a very useful city centre location, the staff are lovely and the beds are very comfortable. It is worth the price and if I am ever back in Trier I would stay here again

A perfectly located hotel. It is an older style hotel but it is very well maintained with a good restaurant and a casual style bar with food service (both with very reasonable prices) . For us it was an easy walk from the train station and the tourist office is just over the road. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Beautiful setting . Direkt across from the famous Porta Nigra. The Restaurant's windows overlook the great monument. Located un the heart of the city. Parking great and spaces very nice and bright.
Food was very good. Will return.

Ideal location and very good hotel

One of the best hotels in Trier...plus they upgraded me to an amazing room with a view of the Porta Negra... Superb

The hotel is in the front of the Porta Nigra, nice to visit.
Also near the city, special the street with much restaurants

Fantastic location and good quality hotel with nice rooms and helpful friendly staff. Secure car parking 12 euro a night underneath the hotel. Awesome view from windows on hotel front.

Helpful desk made accommodation work after initial error in my reservation. Rooms are clean, well appointed. Amazing view of Porta Nigra.
