The church is truly remarkable, and I was particularly amazed by the organ, which has a history spanning over 700 years. While entry to the church is free, note that a ticket is required to visit the Domschatz, which can be purchased outside the church.

Not about the church, whose visit was free, but about the Treasury, I was initially very skeptical, "what can they possibly display that I haven't seen yet?". Wrong, very wrong: the collection was FANTASTIC, and the display incredibly contemporary and pleasant, worth every minute of my time.

Not only is the cathedral a nice example of German Gothic, the Bishopric's treasure is extremely well presented and the visit well worth it.

The Gothic cathedral (13th-15th century) was heavily damaged on 8 April 1945 in a US fire-bombing attack which wiped out most of the historic quarter filled with old timber-framed buildings. The cathedral was restored in the following decades. The extensive treasury includes many plundered Byzantine items obtained from the sack of Constantinople during the Fourth Crusade.
