I am very happy with my AST tender. Its light weight means hanging it from the davits has very little practical effect on the mother ship’s trim. My AST 341 Beach is always ready for use. I find it a wonderful and practical part of my cruising whether carrying 10x25L jerrycans of diesel back to the boat or zipping around ferrying guests or crew. The tender is extremely stable. We have developed our own safe but brisk ways of loading people and their kit into the tender (and disembarking safely). It is a dry boat and very simple to operate. A 15HP Mercury is more than enough oomph for the 341. The padded foam around the tender is perfect at protecting the AST from scratches and dings while also protecting the mother ship. I have found AST very knowledgeable and receptive to answering my questions from before and all through construction and since. First class customer service without exception. Fernando de Noronha (where we are now) is an example of where you need an all-round top performing tender. So much depends on your tender which you use many times each day. Our AST is a key member of our crew, and is always ready for duty!

Not only does AST make a fantastic, high quality, carbon fibre tender, but their customer support is Spectacular! We had an issue with one of the protective plates coming off, and they quickly went to work on a fault finding mission to discover one of our boat washes we were using, was causing the glue to fail. They quickly sent a new fender and application instructions, all on their cost and time. We GREATLY appreciate this level of support, and wish more marine suppliers were even as half as good as these guys! Bravo :)

Gelcoat on my AS Tender 340 peeled badly after less than 2 years of use due to poor construction - air bubbles between carbon fiber laminate and gelcoat. AST Yachts did not stand behind their product and said it was owner negligence.

In response to AST, the boat was never sunk and I did not leave it to rot for several months as you claim. Rain water collected while the dinghy was stored on davits. The water could not drain properly and that was my fault. However, the gelcoat issues all over the rest of the hull have nothing to with that. My catamaran is the same age, has had the same care, and the gelcoat has none of these issues.
