Grotesque Absinthe Bar Aachen

What an experience! The bar is close to the Aachener Dom. You can just drink there. There are plenty of different Absinth and you get a good explanation about it. The place is so unique and you feel like in the early 20th Century. Fantastic!

After living in Prague for a bit
I embraced the Absinthe culture and after 12 years this was the place that made me go back to those fund memories…… I’m so grateful to Thomas for the great experience given to me and my friends…. He was extremely knowledgeable and very passionate about this mysterious spirit ( that inspired many many artists) that made me question my Italian Dna😂😂😂😂

Great collection of absinthe, for everyone's taste. There is also good whiskey and beer for good measure. The cocktails menu is unique as well. The service is very friendly and patiently explains the "ways of the green fairy" to the inexperienced, as well as the characters of each absinthe sort on the menu.

Amazing H.P. Lovecraft themed bar with a great assortment of absinthes to try and very nice cocktails. The service is great and they'll happily explain to you the differences between the absinthes on the menu card.

Like traveling back in time to the roaring twenties. A beautiful art deco design with loads of easter eggs. The selection of absinthe and how it is presented and explained adds to the experience. Need to go to the toilet? Walk through the book closet. Every thing was splendid and roaring. We will come again.

These classy ladies and gentlemen have the expertise to recommend you the right absinthe to get started. There is an almost endless range of other drinks to choose from too. The place is remarkable and the decoration meaningful and coherent.

And it was superb.

The interior design is just beautiful.

They have also their own blend of coffee.
The music was also really nice, and the staff were friendly.

Great place. Staff really friendly and know everything about the drinks and explain it all very well. Excellent English spoken- although I don't expect this. First time drinking Absinth and it won't be the last... Give it a go, you may love it! The place is great as everybody else has described.

This is the COOLEST bar. Loved the vibes, amazing decor, fantastic menu. The bathroom is hidden behind a bookshelf and they use an antique rotary phone to take reservations. Our drinks were wonderful.

I personally recommend the Beetle to who doesn't like anise and bitter absints. Ask to see the bottle if you never did before, you'll find a surprise inside.
Highly recommended to have some drinks with your partner and/or friends.
The place is not big so you might find it full or get a corner of a big table. Absolutely worth to knock on their door

Wonderful place. Very friendly staff, wide selection of drinks, ambience is perfect and very cozy. Has a chess table that you can use. Bathroom is hidden behind a bookshelf.

Early 1900s themed absinthe bar with a good selection of absinthe and gin, as well as a nice cocktail list, mainly built around these two spirits.

Excellent atmosphere and helpful staff (who also speak English), but quite small so a booking is recommended, especially on busy nights like Friday/Saturday.

I can’t think of many bars in my history of going to bars with a cooler atmosphere. We were told to make a reservation in advance, and it definitely was needed - the bar is like being in someone’s living room, and as such there is limited seating for groups. Even couples were being turned away later in the evening. When it came to the service, everything was excellent. The servers know a lot about the absinthe they serve, and offer great recommendations. My only tip: don’t trip too much of it! It’s incredibly strong! But we had a great time and a lot of laughs in the awesome ambiance.

Amazing n very friendly bartender with great knowledge of Absinthe. Beautiful selection of drinks paired with unique way of serving. Mind blowing experience. The music, art & setup is old school, Feels like you hv stepped in 1920s pub. Time travel vibes, must try when Aachen 👍🎊🎉 i will definitely come again when next time in Europe

We came over for quick coffee only but enough to experience great atmosphere there :).
