Driving to Puerto Plata we saw the sign and took a chance -- and are glad we did. Four US citzens, our spanish is elementary, but we were welcomed and communication was fun. We drove to the mines and were invited to crawl in as far as we wished.
It was low tech but we got a glimpse of an amazing way of life and some sense for what these precious stones require.
Back at the museum/store we saw more directly the products we had seen raw at the mines earlier.
It was a rich day for us and one we will remember fondly for a long time.

Este es un muy buen lugar para adquirir piezas de Ambar de diferentes colores, incluyendo azul y rojo, y piezas fosilizadas. El trato es súper amable y la variedad es bastante extensa. Están remodelando y reorganizando la tienda pero se puede ir sin problemas. Además, en el lugar tienen café a la venta de su propia marca y ofrecen servicios de tour por la mina. Lo recomiendo positivamente. Disfruten!
