La Buena Vida Hotel

I will stay here every time I come back to ayampe hands down.. rooms are spacious, complementary breakfast was on point every morning, beautiful layout of the common areas, even a yoga room equipped with mats to workout with. They also offer GYE airport transportation options.

Upon arriving I thought I booked too many days and that there wouldn’t be enough things to do but a day later I already felt the magic of the place and did not want to leave.

Buena Vida is at a short walking distance from the beach and all the activities that the town has to offer for a physically active yet mentally calming holiday eg. Surf, yoga, mountain biking, beach volleyball.

Joanna and her staff have been amazingly welcoming and helpful with tips on things to do and help with travel logistics.

Visiting at the low season (June) had the perk of a calm holiday, getting to know the locals and the weather was still nice with sunny days without getting too hot.

Highly recommend both Ayampe and staying at La Buena Vida. <3

I ended up last minute switching from another hotel to La Buena Vida. The owner was so kind in getting me a room last minute at an affordable price. The property is lovely with lots of plants and garden all around. The room was cleaned each day, the showers are full power and hot, the rooms have a/c, a lock box, toiletries and my favorite was the complimentary breakfast. They have a menu you could choose from. I eat vegan myself and they were able to cater to that. Delicious smoothies and also homemade bread for the avocado toast…yummm!

They have an extra yoga room I used to do my yoga practice in that could easily be used for workout, stretching, etc. Everyone that works here was very helpful in letting me know of places to go and how to navigate the bus. It’s set back from the beach a little but you can still hear the ocean from your room. The beach is only a 5 minute walk.

Awesome place to stay! Marilyn & Keith go out of their way to accommodate their guests. The breakfasts are amazing, as is the make your own salad bar. Rooms are clean & super comfortable. The staff at La Buena Vida are courteous & friendly. I would definitely stay again!

Excellent week & a great time! Rooms very nice and always cleaned well, breakfast was very tasty: coffee, fresh fruits, juices, and more. Even though the location is not advertised as "on the beach" it is ~5min walk away (honestly, an enjoyable and pleasant walk). Everyone - from guests to employees -- is super friendly. It was home away from home! Shout-out to Keith from mineral surfboards ... awesome dude. I don't return to places often but this is certainly a place i would come back to in the future. I originally booked a couple days, then cancelled the rest of my plans and stayed here for the remainder. Marilyn & Keith are so chill but still make sure all the little details of your trip are effortless. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this experience to my closest friends and family. Beautiful property, clean comfortable rooms, and caring staff.

Amazing week here. The rooms are very nice, breakfast is delicious with coffee, fresh fruit, juice, and a few options for main course. Great location too, a few minutes walk from the beach. They help you organize everything including day trips, surf rentals, etc... very easy! Be sure to rent a Mineral surfboard from Keith!

This hotel is gorgeous, peaceful, and very clean. I actually wouldn't even call it a hotel it feels more like a home away from home. A paradise with great energy and vibe. Everyone is so friendly and respectful. I've never been so relaxed and worry free. The staff was attentive to our needs and the short walk to the beach was beautiful. Views to die for. I was there 6 days and at the end I didn't want to go home. Thank you LA Buena Vida till we meet again.

I traveled to Ecuador with my adult daughter in May; she made all of the arrangements. Wow, what an amazing B&B she chose! La Buena Vida is a hidden gem. Owners Marilyn and Keith are warm, inviting people who made us feel right at home. They've thought of ever thing right down to washcloths in the beautiful bathrooms.

Marilyn was kind enough to pick up medication my daughter needed for a fever blister. She sent the bus schedule to our cell phone - tremendously helpful lady.

Their 3 children are precious as well as their sweet cats.

Try the Italian restaurant in town; we enjoyed a yummy salad and pizza.

Just an exceptional place. Rooms are updated, clean, very comfortable. the people are EPIC, great characters. The food was awesome. Very generous. Super place to be for surfing, with rental boards available too. Wish I stayed longer!

Keith and his family + staff are great people and will make your (surfing) holiday a wonderful experience. The “Hotel” is really more like a home away from home. The rooms are spacious and cool with very good bathrooms. There is a very nice atmosphere in the open garden.

You can book surf lessons and rent surfboards. (Keith also shapes surfboards for those who want to buy one.)

We will definitely come again :-)

Lovely staff, everybody makes you feel welcome and the breakfast is a must because it's delicious! Good size rooms with aircon and great location as the beach is close by! Nice added bonus to have the Mineral surfshop and Reki messages in the same place!

Keith (owner) was a super rad dude. Extremely helpful even though I never stayed at his hotel. He will treat you well in these awesome accommodations 🙂

Quiet place. Walking distance to beach and lots of restaurants. Nice people. A lot of people from all over the world come and visit. It's a great social experience.

Delicious breakfasts, friendly staff, and a very relaxed atmosphere. I could eat breakfast there every day.

Charming is the best description. Stop by for a drink, a meal or a vacation. You won’t be disappointed.
