Najera's Cafe & Bar

Najera's is a new restaurant in Cotacachi that shows great promise. It has plenty of space on two floors, with good lighting and comfortable seating.

The menu is diverse, and features *lots* of salad options, in addition to Mexican food, panini sandwiches, and other things. (Order salad dressing on the side, since they tend to overdo it.). The salmon salad is their high-end feature and worth it — one of the best salads I’ve ever had.

The one downside, which the negative reviews emphasize, is that the service can be quite slow. In addition, they follow the unfortunate Ecuadorian custom of waiting to serve beverages until the food arrives. So I've learned to tell them to *bring beverages first* and the wait becomes much shorter.

If you do that, and you're in a mood to linger, this is a great spot. And special kudos for making salads and vegetables a significant part of the menu!

I don’t know what the bad reviews are about. We’ve been here many times, mostly lunch. The food, service and atmosphere are wonderful! Try one of the salads for lunch, they’re delicious.

I had the Desayuno Najera's. It's a potato skillet that has chorizo in it with eggs on top. It was so freaking good! Especially with some of the aji sauce all over it.
It took a little time to get my food, but it was worth waiting for. I highly suggest this place. Their caramel latte was absolutely delicious. I will be back for more!

Cuento que Cotacachi esta lleno de lugares así, hay gente que ni al caso, me recomendaron como 15 personas ir y pues los precios ni que hablar, quien diría saciarse con tan poco presupuesto, y mi lugar favorito el balcón. 10/10
