The gardens are beautiful and the main reason to visit. Queuing for the tower is not worth it, in my opinion. One thing I would recommend improving are restrooms, there could be more facilities given how many people visit this place.

The other Must See in Cordoba but after the Cathedral Mesquita of course.
We were not lucky as the weather was cloudy but at least it wasn't scalding hot.
This alcazar has a beautiful architecture and beautiful gardens as well, but still not on par with the Alcazar of Seville, nor, in my opinion the Segovia Alcazar' though this last one is a medieval castle rather than a Arabic palace.
Buying tickets in advance is not required (unlike in Seville where you have to do that long in advance).
Just look at the pictures

I liked this Alcázar very much. Perhaps not as fantastic as La Alhambra, but I could visualiza this place in it’s splendor. I got a feeling of belonging and astonishment at the level and quality of construction. Speechless

Simply fantastic like the many Alcazars around Spain. Worth a visit and at a reasonable cost.

Nice historical building with some great mosaics. The gardens really are lovely too. The displays/explanations within the building are only in Spanish but there aren't many of them anyway. I spent around 10 minutes in the building and 25-35 minutes in the gardens.

All visit details are clearly listed on their website. Buy tickets on the website in advance (or even when you get there) to avoid the long queue at the ticketing area. EU resident or not, adult admission is 11€. You can enter the garden area for free.
The place is huge and you could wander around for probably an hour. Stunning to see how Muslim religious monuments were converted to Catholic ones, the Catholic iconography everywhere. Reflects the mixed religious and social history of Spain.

The Alcazar itself is definitely not worth that of Sevilla or the Alhambra. But do go see the night show "Naturaleza Encendida", it is amazing!
