Bonito pueblo alpujarreño situado en la vertiente sur de la Contraviesa a 1000 m. de altitud, su termino municipal llega desde las cumbres hasta el Mar Mediterráneo, pueblo de origen claramente islámico. Es famoso por sus vinos, en el siglo XVII, aparece el "vino costa", que perdura hasta hoy, se cultiva en pequeñas explotaciones, lo que da lugar a gran cantidad de lagares en el municipio.

Het is het gemeentehuis, over de politiek kan ik als buitenstaander niet spreken. Maar met feesten is het absoluut geweldig. Een hechte samenleving waar je wel welkom bent als buitenstaander.
