Restaurante El Mesón Despeñaperros

Only popped in for dinner on a Monday evening so not busy. Staff excellent, very diligently sorted our our various dietary requirements and food was delicious.

Went there for my birthday. I was made to feel very special by the staff. The food was absolutely delicious. The cheesecake was to die for. The outlook from the restaurant was amazing. No hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

Really nice place in the middle of nowhere, was a little bit surprised. Friendly staff, nicely decorated interior, each part of the hotel has a little different decoration, clean rooms, nice dining place and terrace for diner, some of the food seem a little preprepare but good

We have only stayed one night but what a treat, the food was amazing, well presented and tasted delicious. Our family room had everything we needed and the little toiletries bags were a very nice touch. We all slept very well, the beds were comfortable and the pillows and duvets were soft and of good quality. The staff were welcoming and super helpful. We would highly recommend this hotel, a perfect stop on the way to Madrid for us, but the local area has a lot to offer for a longer stay.

We stayed here for 4 nights, the staff were excellent and most accommodating. The room we had was excellent, could not complain, we were traveling with a dog and had no problem. Staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our time there, and can only say thank you for an enjoyable stay.

We went on the way to malaga by accidentally. Outside looked a bit disappointing but inside interior was really pretty and cozy. The staffs were super friendly. And the menu is diverse with local specialty. Food was good, the wild pig caneloni was rly delicious. The cheesecake was good and they even help to celebrate my fiance's birthday with compliment sparkling wine. Highly recommended!❤

A short walk from Camping Despeñaperros, carrying our 10% discount voucher we tried the local restaurant in Santa Elena. Very glad we did. Excellent local, traditional cuisine. Wonderful mountain views from the restaurant. The staff were just lovely, friendly and accomodating. The baked cheesecake was superb, so was the coffee. My wife's mushroom risotto had a good earthy, woodland flavour. a good execurion of this standard dish. My bacalao was excellent though the sauce was too sweet for my taste.
We bought a bottle of the local olive oil which came with our bread for dipping. I have never seen such colour and viscosity in an olive oil. We just had to buy some.

Had one of the best meals of our trip here, great locally produced food and friendly and helpful staff.
The cheesecake is a must.

Excellent road bar and restaurant, perfect to stop for a while in a trip and have a nice meal, whether it is breakfast or lunch/dinner with very cool views of the mountains and hunting decoration. The food is a very good value and you can find a wide variety of Spanish and hunting dishes.

A restaurant on my top list. Apart from cozy interior and spectacular views of mountains, the food is exquisite and delicious. We had hamburguesa de corzo, canelones de javali and pate de perdiz. Everything home made. Extremely nice waiters, one can tell, they love what they do. TGE place to stop on way from Madrid to Andalusia.

I had a great night's sleep in a comfortable air conditioned room with a large bathroom after a 140km tandem ride. It was heavenly. The staff are friendly too. I recommend it snd would stay again.

What is there to say, good food, the waiters so professional and entertaining, a brilliant place to stop off while travelling, thoroughly worthwhile for an authentic Spanish lunch. Love their food recommendation. Hopefully we will go back again.

Clean, well maintained and efficient hotel, if a bit dated (only adds to the charm). Fantastic restaurant and super friendly staff. Great value for the money.
