Amazing iberan and roman ruins that tell the ancient history of the region.

The experience is great: you can join a 2 hour long guided tour every morning to climb up the area where the old city of Ocuri lays. After a short walk up the mountain, where the necropolis and the old roman pathway are found, you get to an ancient stone wall first built by the iberan people and expanded by the roman people.

Then you get into the rest of the city proper: the baths, the forum and several houses and water wells have been discovered already, but there is an amazing amount of ruins that still lay waiting for their time to see the light again.

All in all, visiting this place brings the oportunity to picture a small bit of the old ages. Acompanied by our kind guide Isabel, the tales both of the ancient times and of how these ruins were discovered are enlightnening and fun.

We were pleasantly surprised and how beautiful this area is first of all. Our guide was amazing! Very knowledgeable, patient and made this a fun experience for us. We would definitely like to go back in the Spring.

I am hoping they receive funds to continue the exploration process and look forward to additional findings.

Our guide, Inma, spoke excellent English and had a good knowledge of Roman history in the area. The visit was worth it just for her input. Sadly the site was pillaged by its original owner back in the 18th century. However the foundations, some walls and cisterns survive. The mausoleum or Columbarium is, unusually, still intact. Make sure you catch the video interpretation, it puts everything into perspective.

Lovely and peaceful place to visit, well maintained and surrounded by beautiful landscapes. I was the only visitor accompanied by two very friendly and interesting guides for about 2 hours. The guides spoke Spanish but were able to speak English or even French when I didn't get it. The entrance fee was surprisingly cheap, only 2€. Highly recommended!

Very interesting tour! It takes some time to reach the ruins and the climb is steep, but it’s totally worth it! I highly recommend it if you’re interested in Roman ruins.

Our guide (Isabel) was great, very kind to those who were not so fast to climb the hill, and she provided lots of information about Ocuri — both in Spanish and in English. The city is much larger than what we were expecting, so don’t be fooled by the lack of content about the ruins online — the tour is not a short one.

And one important notice: don’t forget to book your tour! They currently don’t accept visitors without reservations.

A lovely find. Small site with lots of features remaining. Still pretty rustic - do not expect glitzy signage and slide shows- but a fabulous guide, hand outs in English, with short film at the end of the tour to help imagine what it would have been. Great coffee next door too. Worth booking for a visit.

Amazing! Need to book a timeslot online via their website as this is a guided tour only. This is straightforward. The tour was in Spanish but there are English language tours available. Starting the tour we headed gently uphill, stopping after a few minutes to have an explanation of how the land was used. The tour continued with the gradient increasing gradually until we reached steps and more information regarding the settlement. More steps, information and a walk around the structures before the final ascent to a large flattish area where the main buildings are. Finally, descending to the visitor centre and a film of the site with information on artefacts found. Highly recommended, especially the video at the end, you do need to have a sensible level of fitness (suitable footwear) but the guide is careful to pace the climb and you do have breaks on the way up.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and wholeheartedly recommend a visit to the old roman settlement of "Ocuri". Maria, our guide, showed great passion and gave excellent explanations - she was extremely informative. The mausoleum, the cyclopean wall and the thermal baths were definitely the highlights of this wonderful Roman settlement. The cost is minimal at only 2€ per person. 5 stars without a doubt!

We enjoyed the tour with Isabel very much. It was informative and a beautiful walk through the area. It's definitely worth a visit. And there is also a very nice little cafeteria to recharge afterwards.
