Parador of Cardona

This was a one of a kind hotel, where you could feel like you were back in medieval time with the Duke of Cardona, but still enjoying modern conveniences. Walking the castle on a moonlit night was absolutely magical, restaurant food was phenomenal and staff friendly and competent. The hotel designers are to be highly commended for maintaining the medieval feel, beauty and history but providing all modern comforts. Only little improvement I might suggest is some option to have a lift for guests and luggage up the steep street into the hotel as this was a bit of a struggle.

Super nice hotel right inside a magnificent castle. The staff was very kind and helpful all the times. Also appreciated the attention to sustainability with a commitment to 0 plastic and the use of 100% renewable energy. The restaurant has a great location but the food is not something out of the ordinary. Overall really appreciated the experience

Booked haunted room 712 and it did not disappoint! Ghost hunters will enjoy a night (not sleeping) if you book this room.
Otherwise this Parador is an educational stay in an important of Spain’s history. Cafeteria, restaurant, staff and service were all excellent.

Such a lovely place! We had a fantastic time staying in this old castle. You have a great view from the castle. We didn't have breakfast here, it was way to expensive, but we did have dinner here which was amazing.

Magical! The castle takes you in and brings a sense of nobility. It's beautiful. The rooms are comfortable. The seventh floor has amazing views! Carlos at the front desk was very kind and helpful sorting out my reservation mistake.

We stayed here May 18-20, 2019. Truly a castle on a hill almost out of a fantasy movie. We had a delightful stay and were able to absorb much of the centuries history of the castle. Not to miss is the tour of the local salt mines (sounds strange, but absolutely worth seeing!).

Wonderful place in a 1000-year old castle. Friendly service. Noemi answered all emails fast and handled a complicated reservation very efficiently. The breakfast, however, could be better. In particular, cold fried eggs and bacon are not very inviting and the selection of cheese and ham deserves an upgrade.

This is not to be missed. The parador is literally built within the castle walls. The rooms are clean, modern and boast spectacular views of the surrounding area. It is a 10 minute walk to the old Town of Cardona, which is an experience in itself.

A wonderful staff. I was sick with the flu when I arrived and the staff arranged to have me taken to a medical facility in the middle of the night. Very caring people! It is also a beautiful Parador and I will return with my family.

What a wonderful experience here at Parador of Cardona! We visited Barcelona for 3 days and spent just one night here. The sights and views are simply amazing!! The history of this castle and the spectacular views from the castle, we will never forget! I especially want to thank the staff for their help in retrieving my handbag that I had left at the castle...THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! We are now looking into booking our next trip to visit a Parador!

This is one of the coolest Parador's Spain has to offer. The location is beautifully set atop a hill overlooking the picturesque city of Cardona. The grounds are well kept, the food is incredible, and the stay here was the best part of our trip.

Hire a car, drive around and explore. This hotel was bliss for us. Large rooms, very attentive staff who look after you without you asking. We ate out in Cardrona town most nights, a nice walk down a nice path and a nice walk back up.

The castle of Cardona dates to the 9th century. It is a memorable place where we began an automobile journey through Spain. Spending time in this hotel encouraged us to consider the rich history of the region. From the hotel we could see Muntanya de Sal, where salt has been mined since Roman times.

You get to stay in a castle need I say more? Try to get a top floor room. 710 offers a fantastic sunset view from the window. The restaurant had a delicious pre-fix menu and wine pairings, really enjoyed

Fun to stay in a castle! Large rooms, great views, great food( though miniscule portions, even for Europe). Also, room had air conditioning!! Very rare. Loved this place

THE BEST! The accommodations are grand, castle an experience and the town is very walkable. Salt mine is very interesting. Parador does a wonderful service bringing these structures back to life. Enjoy!

This is definitely the best parador I have stayed in but not so good to get to if you have a fear of heights and don’t like driving on mountainous roads! (Only the last few kilometres.)
Hotel, room, food, service, scenery all 5 star. A true mixture of grandeur and history.

We have had to cancel our proposed road trip around Spain and staying in different paradores which should have started tomorrow so I was looking at this parador with a view to planning a new road trip when restrictions are relaxed. We have stayed in several paradores in the past and the buildings have always been beautiful, the service first class and the food and wine absolutely superb. A booking will be made at this parador when circumstances allow.
