Incredible family owned winery with an interesting history. One of the most authentic bodegas in the Rioja area, as they still produce their wine in their centuries old underground caves/cellars. The tour of their bodega is super interesting, not only for the amazing architecture of the caves, but also because of the super knowledgeable and friendly guide. On top of all this their wines (both the red and white!) are truly outstanding and the wine tasting at the end of the tour was amazing! If you want a true local wine experience with the best wines in this area, look no further!! We went to multiple bodegas and Lecea is by far the best.

Absolutely a highlight of our trip to Spain! We did the Premium Visit at $45 Euros per person, and was well worth the cost, in my opinion. Our vineyard tour guide was the owner of the Bodega, Luis! My Spanish is limited, so I just listened and took in what I could but the whole experience was great for me. The atmosphere, the town, the caves, the vineyards, the wine, the food. So cool! A great day in La Rioja.

Very interesting and unique vinery visit in old cellar systems below the town. It is very different from the most new Bodegas you will visit in Rioja because you learn about the history of elaborating wine in the region how it used to be. Moreover, you will taste young beautiful wine how it used to be made before mass production changed the wine taste. Our very young but knowledgeable guide was very attentive and answered all of our questions and let us taste different wines produced at Lecea. Greatly recommend this tour, it is much different from the rest of the wineries in the region and available in Spanish and in English.

We loved our visit to Bodegas Lecea. We took the premium tour which included the caves and the winery as well as a trip to the vineyard. Both parts were great. The winery/cave tour is really informative and it’s fun to imagine (and see!) how wine was made centuries ago. The tour goes through all the Lecea caves where the wine is made and stored, and the tour ends with a tasting of three excellent wines and the option to try others too. We followed that up with a drive to the vineyard with the same tour guide. We got to see the Lecea vines (as well as the vineyards of many others) and learn more about the grapes. The best part was lunch in the field that included two more wines and the best tortilla we had in Spain (homemade by the mom of the family that owns the winery). The wine and food on this tour is great and we learned a lot about Rioja winemaking too. Highly recommended!

If you think, “Oh, just another winery tour,” think again. I live in California wine country and have been a wine lover for decades, and I’ve never had an experience like this! The caves, the centuries of tradition, and the modern excellence the new generation of this family-owned business has achieved were mind-expanding. Thank you for your hospitality!

Bodegas Lecea is offering one of the most unique wine experiences in the world! Bodegas Leceahas more than 200 meters of underground caves. Lecea is located in San Asencio, only a 30-minute drive from Logrono. Highly recommend visiting!!

Fantastic wine tour, not too commercial and genuine deep cellars keeping constant 13 degrees Celsius. They were fascinating and extensive with various tunnels beneath the hillside joining together in a labyrinth. Wine maturing in amazing old cement and oak barrels. Ended with wine tasting of three wines in modern wood ceiling barn. Great value for money tour and wines.

We stopped off at Lecea for a tour of the caves, tasting, lunch and finally a tour of the vineyards in the vintage Land Rover. It was an excellent choice - Lidia was a fantastic guide, very informative and with a real passion for the history, traditions and methods used. This is a very good, family-run place.
The caves are an integral part of the bodega's operations in the present day but there are also previously used historical artifacts displayed. The tasting and lunch were excellent, with the food being homemade and showcasing local produce. Oh, and the wines were also delicious!
Finally the vineyard tour was fun riding in the car and very scenic - passing through the town and then to the vineyards which are up at a higher altitude. Plenty of very interesting information about the town, the wider Rioja region and the cultivating methods used now and previously.
We all had a great time and would definitely recommend a visit! Hopefully in the future we can visit for the grape stomping weekend...

A really fascinating, indeed extraordinary, tour. Wonderful to know that the same family has been using these caves for hundreds of years and for our guide to be a member of that same family. All the better for some lovely wines sampled and bought. A must if you have time in the area.

We were here in March 2024 and booked a private tour. This is long overdue but we were amazed by the hospitality, winery and friendliness of every single person working there. The dad big boss passen on a lot of interesting wine knowledge.
We bought quite a few bottles and they were very helpful with shipping. Wines are amazing.

We had a most fantastic tour. Cellar visit , wine tasting and then the lunch in the vineyards. Accompanied by the most in formed and connected (and friendly) people.

Thank you so much and worth 6 stars if we could give them😁

We started our visit on an e-bike through through Lecea's vineyards with Estela as our exceptional guide. We then continued for the full tour of the bodega and walked through the caves and cellars, learned about the region's history of wine-making, while sampling their best bottles. The family's love for their craft and the region was palpable, and we hope we can come back here one day for a proper vendimia.

A family owned and managed winery with cellars located in underground 16th century caves. Still follows traditional techniques. Beautiful and unique experience. Must take time to visit when are visiting the area.

We had an amazing time. Isabela was our guide for an English tour, she did a great job. It was informative and casual. We did the tour with a car through the vineyards, which was a highlight as well. Highly recommend this one!

The people were lovely and the tour was extremely insightful. Learning about the history of wine making from a small family run company was very enjoyable.
