Great and friendly restaurant running by a couples. Easy to access with free parking spaces. Reasonable prices for appetisers and main courses. Surprising me with the cinnamon rice pudding for dessert! Simple but delicious with home feel dishes. You can special order of how you would like your dish and they will serve you the best! We went there for lunch and dinner in same trip! Awesome

The best restaurant in Bilbao in my area opinion. I really appreciate the fact that I don’t have the menu because that means the server takes time to explain to you everything in detail. we ended up getting the meat platter to share and honestly the beef for so tender. It’s a family own business and has been open for the past 28 years. The restaurant itself is vintage and beautiful. Highly recommended.

Local residents recommended this restaurant to me, and I am very grateful to them. It's a cozy family-run place. There's no menu; you communicate with the owner and discuss whether you want meat or fish and what side dishes you'd like. I chose the veal steak with a salad. It was excellent quality meat, well-cooked, a generous portion, and a fresh crispy salad. I also ordered a glass of wine, and it was a very generous serving. At 26 euros for such a dinner, it's a great value

This was a happy accident for us. We googled restaurants close to Bilbao’s Holiday Inn Express near the airport and came up with this restaurant. OMG!! Everything was out of this world! We could barely speak Spanish, but the only thing we had to google translate was “ agua carbonatada”. 😳 We had a bottle of red wine, a bottle of water, steak plate, fish plate, and bread for 53 euros. Fabulous! Excellent! I can’t find enough great words to describe this meal, this place, this owner. I would definitely go back!

We had a short 15 minute walk here from our hotel, I have to say that it was worth the walk. The owners are really nice and welcoming, the locals that kept popping in all said "hello" and "goodbye" when they left. There isn't a menu, you just are told what's on offer and take your pick. Believe me, the chef really knows how to prepare a steak, it was superb, the service was great and the price was surprisingly low for what we had. I would wholeheartedly recommend this Jewell to anyone who appreciates great food cooked very well, and with a smile. You will not regret visiting.

I sat outside in the walled courtyard and enjoyed the beautiful weather, food, and service. The owner was extremely nice, very engaging in conversation, and was genuinely interested in hearing about other people.

The lunch was exquisite, starting off with a paella of sorts and then followed up by a perfectly prepared pork! Would gladly go back and eat the same meal again and again.

Very nice family owned restaurant. Beautiful outside area, incredible hospitality. We ordered 2 steaks with fries, homemade fried potatoes. Homemade bread, so so delicious. Very affordable. Their water was delicious too, I don't know if they simply have a great filter, but it tasted just like it's from cold springs. Amazing!

The entrecote was out of this world -- the best I've ever had. The tomato and bonito salad and the secretos aka pork steaks were also good. Overall a great surprise and 100% recommended.

We randomly picked this place as a last stop before our flight. You may be surprised how good the food is here! The owner is very kind, makes you feel like you are hosted by your mom. Highly recommended!

Very cosy but very nice restaurant. There doesn't seem to be a menu. The chef offers beef, pork or fish. What you get, you can call a great home cooking. The portion was generous and the taste excellent. The price was not cheap for the region but reasonable.

Very good food, especially the meat. It is a good quality meat and delicious. We ordered beef steak and pork and the servings were really big. Also, the prices are really low. 4 people each had a beef/pork steak and 1 botle of cider+1 of sparkling water and we paid ~90€ total.

We walked over to this place from the Holiday Inn Express near the airport in Bilbao, was well worth the 15 minute walk! Joseba, the owner was very kind and gracious enough to sit us, during their "break time" as we had arrived around 530pm, normally when they would close for an hour or so to take a break and eat and then reopen. He was so kind and generous and had made us beautiful plates of grilled chicken thighs, with french fries, salad, grilled/roasted zucchini and a roasted tomato. The food was delicious and Joseba was very cool, talked a lot about food and cooking. While he could've closed and left us to find another restaurant he forewent his breaktime and feed us! The sign of a true chef! We will never forget his kindness!

We were ending our week long trip to the Basque Country and ate here the night before we flew back to the States. The owners are very welcoming, the meal was great (desserts were terrific) and the atmosphere was perfect (warm home feel). They were also very patient with explaining the meal options to me as my Spanish is far from stellar. It was a great way to end our trip, so glad we stopped by.

I found this place online, having seen the very average reviews for the restaurant next to my airport hotel. Google maps said it was a 15 min walk from my hotel (New Bilbao) but it was actually less and a very easy walk along a very quiet road (all on good pavements). I'm so pleased that I made the effort. It's a great venue; a proper local tavern, with no frills but great produce. I had an amazing steak with salad and chips. The huge hunk of steak was cooked to perfection (medium rare - perfect for the cut of beef) and melted in the mouth. The chips were very tasty, the salad garnish was so so, but it was all about the main ingredient and the owner certainly knows what he's doing. And they seem to serve food all day! The draft beer was also very good (I had the first one on the bar as you enter the door - a slightly dark beer). With a cosy indoor bar/restaurant and a nice courtyard it's an ideal place to have a quiet drink or meal regardless of the weather. Two pints of good beer, an amazing steak dinner and a double espresso came to just €18.
