Belén de Ana María

If I could give this 10 stars I would! Ana María has created the most incredible and unique nativity scene that I have ever seen. Something that she spent 30 years dreaming of and making a collection of items for.

During the pandemic she realised her dream and started to put the whole thing together. She made the backdrop using mud and ashes from the area to replicate the hillside opposite and the cave where she was born. The whole nativity depicts parts of her childhood growing up including making a replica of a machine to sort the wheat from the chaff. It has to be seen to be believed. Roof tiles made by hand, clothing made from recycled fabric etc etc etc.

I'm not surprised that buses of people visit. It is just off the motorway and in the charming little village of Lopera in Granada Province. Magical. A credit to this wonderful lady and her vision.

It is open all year round, not just for Christmas.
