My partner and I stayed here a year ago (visiting from Canada) for two nights and we loved our experience. The hotel had a classic decor but all the functionality we required. We had breakfast one morning and it was an incredible spread - various meats, cheeses, fruits, cakes and more - we felt very lucky! The location is excellent. Despite its close proximity to bars, we couldn't hear noise from outside in our room and had a great sleep. The owner was very friendly and efficient and helped us book a taxi for early hours on our departure date. There are a few chain hotels in the area but I would most definitely recommend staying here instead. Thank you for a lovely stay!

I have travelled a lot but this is probably the most unique hotel I have ever stayed in. The double room was spacious, very clean and had a beautiful bathroom. The hotel itself contains the most wonderfully eclectic collection of art - from paintings to model cars to marionettes and life-sized statues. It was in a great location right near the inside of the original Roman wall and also had an amazing buffet breakfast.

We were happy to be able to reserve a room at short notice but didn't realize what a truly wonderful hotel the Monumento Pazo de Orbán e Sangro is until we arrived. The location couldn't be better, especially for those who travel environmentally friendly with public transportation, just a few minutes stroll from the Cathedral and even closer to the main area of taverns, cafes, and restaurants. And the famous Roman walls are just behind the hotel. (There is special parking for those who travel by car, but we wish you would leave your car at home.)

The very helpful, charming, and friendly María provided us with our key and information about the hotel. We were distracted by all the things to look at from the second floor where the elevator stops to the top floor, where our suite was located. So many beautiful antiques, bric-a-brac, sculptures, lamps. Photos certainly didn't do our room justice - you have to be there to enjoy the coziness and comfort. And the bathroom with bath and shower is full modern and looks brand new. In spite of the attic location and summer heat, the room was still cool. And we had a direct view of the Roman walls, too!

Manuel provided us a deliciously fresh orange juice in the blistering August heatwave on the terrace of the hotel with great views of the Roman walls.

Later in the evening we were lucky enough to get to know Manuel's father of the same name, the hotel's owner who told us how he transformed an old factory with sewing machines into a fascinatingly detailed work of love with treasures of all kinds, ranging from samples of detergent used in Spain a century ago to a quirky assortment of manikins (reference to the history of the building) arranged all over the place.

The breakfast was wonderful with a delicious selection of local cheeses and healthy fruits.

Our only regret - Lugo wasn't on our original itinerary, so we only had a day to spare. But we've already planned a return for a week. And if our suite is booked? Then we'll take any of the other rooms, María said they're all different and charming in their own way, just like the wonderful hosts at this hotel.

Beautiful rooms that are decorated with antiques. A fine old building turned into a warm and cozy hotel. The best breakfast of fresh fruit, meats and some of the best cheeses from the region. Cozy and quiet. The host is warm and welcoming. A real treat of a place to stay.

What a lovely hotel. It is in the centre of Lugo, close to restaurants and bars and also all the sites. The lady on reception was really lovely and helpful.
The hotel looks beautiful from the outside and has been restored inside with antiques. The rooms are huge, with large bathrooms too. There is a safe and fridge and secure parking next to the hotel. The bed was really comfortable, the room was really quiet too.
The aircon didn't seem to work properly, but was ok.
The shower was great and lots of hot water. The hotel is very clean.

Current managers are really nice people. This hotel is a historic building recently restored. Comfortable with modern and spacious bathrooms, elevator to all room (except for the exceptional attic on the third floor).
Located in the center of the city, but accesible by car and including a parking lot, you can walk through pedestrian-only streets to visit the city: cathedral, mitreo, casa de los mosaicos, plaza de España, San Pedro, etc.
You can wake up in the morning and run on the +2000 year old Roman Wall, then take a shower with views of the cathedral, and the enjoy a breakfast with local cheese and cakes.
You can go in 5 minutes to the area called “Calle de los Vinos” and enjoy drinks and free tapas walking from bar to bar.
You can walk to the best restaurants in the center of Lugo, and not worry about driving back to the hotel.
The hotel is a combination of modern utilities with a decoration including a selection of antiques that make you feel like living in a museum.

We komen graag eens terug!
