Centro Histórico de Chinchön

A harsh landscape, a harsh climate and a harsh living. All these have shaped the historic centre of the town of Chichon.

This is not Andalusia, where white-washed houses decorated with flowerpots of geraniums tumble down the streets to little squares where the scent of orange-blossom fills the air in springtime.

This is the centre of Spain where winter is hard and summer is hot, and the houses reflect this, with solid walls and big strong doors.

But this severe townscape has many charms which are revealed to the visitor in the splendour of its harshness.

The streets ramble, up and down and round. The pebbles underfoot are many many years old, probably older than those who tread them. The wooden balconies surrounding the main square - the Plaza Mayor - are painted green and often filled with chairs and tables where you can drink and eat (eat very well, warming dishes to keep out the cold, to keep the body going) and watch the world go by.

The austere streets seem noble as their houses turn their backs, seemingly, on passers-by. You are in a secret place, a place that keeps its own secrets, that holds tight to its past.

Look up. Look up at the towers - of the Torre del Reloj, of the Church - pointing heavenwards above the narrow winding streets.

Look down. Walk up, up to the promenade by the Torre del Reloj, and look down. Look down on the rooftops, see the hidden patios and gardens that you would never guess lay there behind the severe house fronts.

Look across. Look across over the rooftops, over the Plaza Mayor to the castle, the Castillo de los Condes, brooding on the hill opposite, set there in the 15th century to protect the town.

Look at sunrise, look at mid-day, look at sunset, look in moonlight. This little town changes its whole atmosphere as the light changes.

Nice historical place

Pueblo muy atractivo por su gran Plaza Mayor. Desde el mirador de la iglesia se puede divisar todo el pueblo. Recomendable para visitar.

Precioso lugar de visita de interés turístico así como sus procesiones. Si vas de visita a Madrid te recomiendo q te acerques a visitar Chinchón saldrás encantado de verlo.

Interesante, muy bonito y acogedor , es un pueblo encantador, parece sacado de una película.

Chichón es un pueblo muy pintoresco, con un centro histórico muy atractivo y unas vistas increíbles. Merece la pena visitarlo.

Precioso. Se llega bastante fácil desde cualquier punto donde se deje el coche, ya que está bien señalizado los lugares de interés

Tiene muchos restaurantes, en la feria medieval aqui es donde pasa casi todo, un mercadillo muy interesante. Es un poco complicado para aparcar, así que les recomiendo que van temprano.

Muy bonito y las personas del pueblo muy amables

Un pueblo bonito, aunque con muy poca vida comercial y social, si eres amante de los toros suelen hacer festivales, creo que eso es la segunda atracción de este pueblo, como estructuras muy bonito pero en si se ve muy desolador y deprimente si no hay fiestas, para los amantes de la tranquilidad creo que esta bien, pero para los que nos gusta un poco más el ajetreo no creo que sea recomendable para vivir allí

Precioso pueblo. Un lugar con mucho encanto donde poder pasear y curiosear por sus calles, muy bonito.

Muchas opciones gastronómicas en la plaza, unas vistas de la plaza muy buenas y en invierno se está muy bien al sol.

Lugar de hospedaje del rey Felipe V a su paso por Chinchón, la noche drl 25 de febrero de 1706. Edifocio barroco de finales del s. XVII, con fachada de tres cuerpos y puerta principal adintelada.

Muy bonito!, es un hermoso sitio para hacer un paseo con la familia, amigos o romántico.

Muy bonito todo Chinchón, y muy cerca de Aranjuez para redondear la jornada.

Un punto de obligada visita y con muchísima historia. Probad las tetillas, las pelotas y un vasito de vino.

Una visita muy interesante.
