Cool and interesting place to visit. We visited with an organized bus tour from Valencia which was an easy and convenient way to get there and get tickets. We have been in caves before but never in boat! It’s a unique experience. We were lucky and had an English speaking person driving or boat and we were the first boat of the morning so waters were extra clear and still. Highly recommend!

I surprised my husband with a trip to Coves de Sant Josep for Fathers Day. I booked the boat trip tickets online which was very convenient. It made it easy to just turn up at the appointed time (ten minutes before the departure) and get the QR code they’d emailed scanned without risking possible disappointment that they would be fully booked on the day. The caves were fantastic and the 45 minute tour was extremely interesting and a very enjoyable. The lighting is excellent, very dramatic and it felt so serene gliding along the river as the Guide, a lovely young man, describing in both Spanish and English what we were looking at. They are non motorized boats and the Guide uses the paddle to punt along the walls of the cave, so it’s very peaceful and quiet. The cave tunnels get quite narrow at times with the ceilings hanging low, which requires passengers to duck their heads down. If you have extreme neck problems, you might want to think about whether you have enough mobility for the few times you will need to duck down. They do not overload the boats with people though, so you do have plenty of room to bend at the waist if that’s more comfortable.

They take you to a dock underground where you will leave the boat for a ten minute walk through the caves and then get back on to continue the boat trip. The pathway is very stable and doesn’t require climbing, so it should be easily managed. The remainder of the boat trip was lovely and there was an opportunity to take pictures on the way back. (Just remember to turn off the flash as glare will destroy the low light vision of your boat Captain/Guide!) The whole experience was really well done and we both said we’d be interested in coming back for the kayak tour which includes swimming and for any of the musical events that they have. They have a kids play area, several restaurants and cafes, gift shops and great scenic areas onsite for taking memorable pictures of your adventure as well as a large FREE car park if you drive there.

Incredible! So crazy beautiful. What a beautiful experience! I definitely recommend doing the kayaking trip after hours! It was Epic! Lucia and Manu were the best guides ever, so kind and knowledgeable. Unforgettable experience. Thank you!

Beautiful caves in a wonderful little town. There are so many great places to eat and drink a beer or wine. Be sure to get your tickets online before you visit as it was sold out our first try. We did the cave tour which was about 45 minutes and then went to eat. After lunch we hiked on a few of the many trails. Our friends drove their camper van and were able to camp easily. Forgot to mention there were a few historic points in the trails and on the lookout.

This place is incredible with a very unique cave where you swim on a boat. The lighting there is spot on which allows to see both the ceiling and the river floor. The only downside is always lowering your head so you don't get hit but that's part of the fun :).

I would recommend buying tickets in advance only if you're 100% sure you'll make it to the time you have chosen, oversize buy tickets when you arrive.

These caves are about 45 min outside of Valencia. I recommend booking a tour to make it stress free because you will not have to drive there or wait in line to buy tickets and your tour guide should provide a history of the area along the way, The caves are beautiful. It is a comfortable temperature of 20 celsius inside. You ride a boat thru the tunnels and caves. Then you walk for a little bit and then you get back in your boat and go back through the tunnels and caves but this time you can take pictures. On the return ride you stop in the open area for a music and light show before the exit. There are a few shops and a place to eat in the town. And there's also an old Monastery at the top of the stairs above the stores. It was not a long tour but it was fun for all and something different fr9m the usual shops or Unesco sites. I highly recommend it.

Discovered after moving to the area in July. Have taken three lots of visitors there as we thought it was excellent. Reasonably priced, well organised tour and the guides (one guy in particular) are so enthusiastic and share their knowledge in a really engaging way.

One of the best visitor attractions we’ve visited since living in Spain.

Absolutely spectacular- went on a quiet weekday in October. Lovely cafes outside for breakfast, easy parking. I pre-booked online. Guides were informative. I would definitely go again for their concerts in summer if I’m lucky enough to be back. Surrounding area full of natural beauty.

Really great experience it is the longest navigable underground river in Europe, very close to Valencia, they do 2 types of trips, you can go in a boat for 800 meters and then a 250 metre walk, or you can do it in a single or double kayak, which is what we did, you even get the chance to swim in the water. Fantastic experience and would highly recommend it.

Spectacular day trip from Valencia’s. About 45 minutes by car to get here, an hour long boat tour in Europe’s longest underground river, and stunning rock formations. We want to come back for the kayak tour ASAP. There is free covered parking next to the caves. Around the cave entrance there are a handful of bars and restaurants. The fanciest one would need a reservation, though we went to a cheaper one and has no wait for lunch. Alternatively, we found out later about some food trucks in the city center about 5-10 minutes away.

Probably one of the best underground caves with a river I have ever seen! worth to visit this place for sure! Inside the cave you will use small boats and maybe walking around 200-300 meters. So is accessible for anyone and any age. For tickets is better to buy them in advance at least one day before!

An amazing and big cave. It has a very long and beautiful cave. At the start you get into a boat and the captain tells you a lot of interesting facts about the cave in Spanish and in English if asked. Then you are going to walk for a bit in the cave with some beautiful views and get back into the boat where you then ride for a bit and go to a music concert. It was a calm music concert and had had a lot of lighting. You watch all this from your boat and wait for a bit until other boats start to go. Then you back on land and walk to go to the same place you’ve started from. They also have a kayak tour (which we didn’t get so I can’t tell a lot about it). The only downside is that they didn’t allow taking pictures in the first part of the boat. There a lot of restaurants nearby that you can rest in / have lunch.

very touristy, but still worth it. the caves are beautiful and the boat ride has something serene. the also have cute staff :))
a bit cheaper for students. booking tickets in advance is probably better to avoid waiting 1-2 hours.

It’s a really nice magical experience, loved every bit of it. The whole concept is cruising inside the cave on a small boat. At sometimes you have to put your head down not to hit some stalactite. The reservation should be made online and I advice you to make it couple of days ahead as they have limited timings. There is a nice lights show inside.

It was a wonderful experience. A visit to Valencia without a visit to San Jose Cave is not complete. The staffs are amazing, and the cave is well maintained while safety precautions are adhered to at all times to ensure the safety of all visitors and tourists. Added to this, the ticket is not expensive if you go there by yourself and not use a tour guide. It cost just 14£ to experience this amazing cave. Before you go into the caves, there are lots of cafes where you can grab something to eat. Ice cream, drinks, food, etc. You can as well do this when you come out of the cave.

If you are driving by yourself to the cave, there are lots of parking spaces to park your car safely. Don't ever worry about that. I don't know the price for parking but I am sure it won't cost anything. The car park is not far away from the main entrance and that is why I will recommend you drive there if you can as this will save you some money.

I need to say that photos and videos are bot allowed while you are in the cave. This is to prevent tourists' safety so they don't hit their head on the rock while taking a picture or videos. However, you will be giving some time, which is about 5 minutes at a safe spot in the cave to take good quality pictures. For those who would like to swim, you can do that within the 5 minutes, but who would choose to swim and ignore taking good pictures.

If I ever visit Valencia again, I will do this over and over again.

A very beautiful underground river to be visited when you are nearby Valencia.
Interior cave holds 20 Degrees Celsius and the river holds 17 Degrees Celsius for the entire year.
Amazingly lighted and a beautiful surprise awaits you at the end of the underground journey.
It is kids friendly! I recommend it!

A great way to spend an hour, but book in advance to ensure your place or that you don't have a wait for your visit. The wooden boats hold 12 people and you are directed where to sit on the benches along each side to ensure stability.

There is a guide who poles the boat along and provides some details about the caves etc, in Spanish of-course, and our command of the language wasn't good enough to understand, but we still enjoyed the visit.

The caves are very low in places so you have to watch out and duck down to avoid a knock on the head. For this reason, there are only certain places, where the cavern is large, where it is safe enough to take photos.

The visit takes 45 minutes and after a short boat ride, you alight and wander through the caves for 200m. The floor is smooth concrete, but the width and height varies. At the end of this one-way walk, the boat meets you again so you have a longer ride back.

We booked in advance (as I needed to fit the visit into our schedule) and for 14,50€ each, we visited on Friday 28 April 2023. There were many visitors entering 30 minutes apart and I counted five boats of up-to 12 people in each for the trip after ours (as we had to wait for them all to pass).

The journey inside the cave was something really exraordinary and much impressive. We were only disappointed at first because the guide should better explain that photos are not allowed only in the first part of the trip and there would be plenty of opportunities later, including special attractions

The underground river and rocks and boats make a very interesting combination of experiences. Additionally, this attraction is combined with music and nice lighting effects. I recommend buying tickets online.
