Barceló Emperatriz

This is a wonderful five-star hotel in a prime central location, making it easy to walk to many shops and attractions. The service here is unbeatable—truly one of the best we’ve experienced across the many cities we’ve visited in Spain.

From the moment we stepped through the door, we were treated with exceptional hospitality. Alejandro warmly greeted us, helping with our luggage and guiding us to the check-in area. Traveling all the way from Boston with young children, including an infant, we were delighted when he offered our kids goodie bags and a plush toy of the hotel. The welcome drinks and popcorn made us feel immediately at home. The check-in staff, Carlota, was incredibly friendly and greeted us with a big smile, making us feel very welcome. This was one of the best check-in experiences we’ve ever had.

Our room was fantastic, with amazing views and delightful surprises, like cowboy hats and candies, waiting for us. Since we were celebrating our anniversary, the hotel went above and beyond by arranging sparkling wine, sweets, and a beautiful card, making our stay truly wonderful and memorable.

They even provided us with vouchers for drinks at the bar, which stays open until 12:30 a.m. The bartender, Jose Luis, was amazing—he has a cool, Iron Man-like appearance and was incredibly friendly. He even made Shirley Temples for our children and gave them bubbles to play with, which was a thoughtful touch that really made our night.

This hotel gave us a truly unforgettable experience, and we definitely plan to return. A big thank you to everyone on the team for making our stay so special!

We always stay at Emperatriz when visiting Madrid. This is a cozy small hotel close to the best parts of the city. The staff is very friendly, helpful and nice. The hotel itself is modern and luxurious but nothing over the top. It has a small pool and bar at the roof but no sauna, which is a bit disappointing (this is a wish, not a complaint, as the hotel does not advertise that they have one). Cleanliness is, as always, top notch. Breakfast is delicious and fresh. Nice touch when the staff gave our son a teddy bear!

Great service here! The staff are very attentive and warm. Breakfast is AMAZING and they offer a variety of food selections with lots of fresh items. Would recommend this hotel!

The rooms are of good size, the service was good, and the location is close to main attractions. The hotel provided a lot of toiletries like shaving razors, toothbrushes, and hair comb. However the pool on the roof is small, it's not a swimming pool. The pool is meant for about 6 people to sit and relax in the water, not to play or swim.

Staying at this hotel was a wonderful experience. The staff were all pleasant and well-mannered. The breakfast offered a great variety and was delicious.

Amazing hotel. Love every piece of it. It is a 5 stars with old world elegance. Staff is very nice and professional. Quality over quantity in every thing. Particularly, the breakfast is unbeatable . Staff is attentive and go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. The teddy bears for children at breakfast was such a nice gesture.

And the area is superb: shopping, dining and visiting options. Without tourist crowdsSuper safe. A true gem

Well located. The rooms were spacious but were kind of dark. The gym was adequate. The rooftop pool was small but nice. The staff were amazing! The morning breakfast was exquisite.

This place is super clean. Great service and great staff. Love it. We will be back. The room is great and tons of great features. Even room service was very good. Breakfast isn't included but it's great though. 🙂

Everything was perfect in our room! Front desk was very hospitable and friendly. 24 hours available. Concierge gave great recommendations! Tub was amazing - took a bath every night. Only thing that would’ve made it a 11/10 is the pool. The pool was shut down for maintenance so didn’t get to enjoy that and wish the gym was a little bigger with more equipment

Hotel is clean. Location is great and very convenient. Rooms are very small (average and premium compared to North American standards). Food is good.

Beautiful experience that I had in this hotel. I was in a business trip so it was exceptional starting my day with a short work out in the hotel gym which is a bit small but you have what you need
The breakfast was crazy good which encompasses a variety of food for all the tastes from vegetarian to dairy free and gluten free
The rooms were quite spacious with fully equipped bathrooms
They even gifted me with a straw hat for the sun
And a chocolate daily with the room cleaning
The personnel were very professional and tried to help whenever they can
They have also a rooftop pool and bar
The hotel is also in an upscale area which is quiet but a walking distance from shops at sorreno and bars and restaurants

Stayed here for work and everything as expected. Good sized comfortable room which included everything you would need, including toothpaste and shaving kit. Staff were very attentive and were always happy to help

We had a room with a balcony which was lovely. Everyone in the hotel and restaurant were very helpful.

It’s very clear as to why this hotel is 5 stars. Not only is it absolutely gorgeous, but the staff are phenomenal. They were incredibly nice from beginning to end. Everyone was amazing truly. They gave us food recommendations that were good. They helped guide us throughout our trip as well. We opted for the daily breakfast, which we never do. It was soooo good. They had such a variety too. They had foods ready to go, and foods ready to be made per order. Their bar was very good too! Delicious drinks. We would 100% stay here again if we are ever back in Madrid.

My feedback would be, that we would have like some English TV channels/movies and indeed some sport channels, we would find this typical in most high end hotels, for which this is, in the main

Could not me more pleased with my stay here. From the moment of check in to the fresh made coffee orange juice and fruits at 5am (early departure to the train station to Seville)
We were unable to do an early check in which is understandable but they held our bags and by the time we got back they’d brought all 4 of our huge bags to the room. They upgraded our rooms to a room with balcony. Everytime we ran into staff they could not have been nicer. I loved love sour room full bath tub and white clean sheets room was extremely clean. Look I was extremely please and regarding hotel rooms I could not be more picky. Wonderful stay would 100% reccomend to a friend and would also 100% stay here again

Wonderful hotel. I loved the spacious connecting rooms for our family of 4, very clean and quiet, with a great bathroom each and super comfortable beds and pillows.
Breakfast buffet includes variety and quality, just missing better coffee.
Location was great, on a quiet street near restaurants and museums.
Helpful and polite staff in all hotel areas.
Will definitely come back.

New, modern and clean. The room is filled with built-in functional furniture. Bathtub is nice and has emergency phone in the toilet (no bidet shower though). Love hotel's breakfast especially churros and porras. Great location near the bus stop and 100 meters to pub.

I had a great time at Hotel Barceló. I had the choice between this hotel and the Intercontinental. I really feel like I made the right choice. The staff were all too kind and helpful. From the receptionists to the cleaning crew. Everyone was really nice. Also the free popcorn made me feel very welcome :)
