This was an absolutely amazing experience. We went early to see the paella being made. What a beautiful location and setting amidst the artichoke and cabbage fields. Everything was absolutely delightful. The eel with potatoes, although the dish was quite tasty in itself, was just not up to my palette. Blame it on me for not being a big seafood fan. Everything else was just great. The owner came and spoke to us and also took pictures with us. Overall, a day well spent in the small quaint town of Meliana.

This was such an amazing and lovely dinner! If you are in Valencia, this is a must try. You need reservations as they freshly make the food per person that is dinning.
The quality of food is priceless, they grow their own vegetation so you are tasting everything organically produced.
The chef came out and said Hello to us and got to know us. We recommend this restaurant as a special event worth celebrating or a day to spend with the family.
For our coffee we tried the Cremat, which is a must try.. if you are coffee lover, this is a must! It has different aromas with special touch of liquor in it. It’s worth toasting to it!
Bravo Toni, Thank you for the excellent experience!

So much fun having true Paella Valenciana at La Barraca de Toni Montoliu. From the moment the dinner bell was rung and we were seated the food started coming out. There were multiple courses including hummus, tuna with red peppers, artichokes, all i prebre, garden salad and then the main attraction paella loaded with chicken and rabbit. Servings were very large and then we got two desserts and coffee. Our server Oscar was hustling. An amazing dining event

True Valencian experience!
Very nice food, good quality and fun service! Loved it!
My only issue is that I prefer to be served the paella on the paella pan and eat from there and this is a big one that serves the whole restaurant and they serve a plate. Still delicious as it’s wood made and it tastes amazing.
Excellent experience and would recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic Valencian meal

Probably my favorite restaurant in Valencia offering a unique insight into the traditional Paella Valenciana. Toni Montoliu and all the people working at the restaurant are more than welcoming and makes every visit a great experience. Gràcies!

To say Barraca Toni Montoliu is a culinary revelation would be a gross understatement. Situated in the bucolic outskirts of Valencia, Spain, this restaurant transcends the ordinary dining experience with a seamless blend of tradition, taste, and authenticity.

Let me preface this by saying, I am not easily impressed. My palate has a discerning taste and my son, much to my amusement, has followed suit. Yet, Barraca Toni Montoliu managed to impress us both. From the moment we stepped in, we felt transported back in time to when paella was born on the traditional farms of Valencia, using whatever ingredients the land provided.

We had the pleasure of savoring their slow-cooked paella, an experience worth the journey in itself. Here, there are no shortcuts; no modern culinary conveniences like gas stoves. Instead, the paella is cooked in the traditional way over woodfire, just as it was centuries ago. The ingredients—snails, chicken, duck, and rabbit—were tender and succulent, each bite steeped in layers of flavor, a testament to the chefs’ deft skill and expertise. It was, without a doubt, the best paella I have ever had.

The dishes kept coming. Each course was beautifully presented, each mouthful a delightful surprise. It was a never-ending carousel of culinary delights, and we savored every moment.

The fact that Barraca Toni Montoliu has graced the screens of MasterChef Spain comes as no surprise. The quality, authenticity, and taste speak volumes about the meticulous efforts that go into the preparation of each dish. It’s an experience that transcends the typical tourist fare, with precooked paella coming nowhere close to the mastery displayed here.

If I could, I would give Barraca Toni Montoliu a dazzling 12 stars. Their commitment to the culinary tradition, the quality of ingredients, and the sublime taste of their dishes have left an indelible impression. To the chefs at Barraca Toni Montoliu, I take my hat off. This isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a pilgrimage for anyone seeking the true taste of Valencia. If you find yourself in this enchanting city, missing out on this place would be a culinary crime!

This was THE place I wanted to go when I did research on what to do in Valencia. The most authentic experience to have a paella. It was truly a wonderful experience. Anyone who comes to Valencia and is not a vegetarian should definitely try this. The meal last almost THREE hours and we were so full we didn’t need dinner (and should’ve skipped breakfast too)!! From farm to table.

Authentic Valencian Paella. Amazing experience. Set menu with 4 course meal. Staff are extremely friendly. Toni and the cook staff came to each individual table after lunch to chat and ask about the service. Highly recommend if youre seeking an authentic experience in Spanish cuisine

This is a farm experience with a delicious rustic restaurant. The food is excellent and very plentiful.

A few details:
- The restaurant starts serving food around 2pm
- It appears to be possible to join in the food preparation but you have to be there earlier. You can call to ask what time they recommend.
- The food is seasonal, so the exact meals may differ but it’s all delicious and healthy.
- For us, we received esgaret, Ali I pebre, summer salad, paella, 2 desserts. We left full like wine barrels, ready to roll down the hill.
- The paella is cooked over orange wood with rosemary sprigs. They have tons spices and seasonings. The flavor is excellent and different than the restaurants. Unlike paella restaurants, they cook it with a low amount of sodium and it tastes very healthy. Lots of citrus wood smoke adds a different dimension.
- There is plenty of parking on site and it is also very easily accessible by the metro to Valencia
- Very nice experience. Highly recommend if you want a more rustic experience.

I live in Valencia and when booking a table at this place, I was a bit skeptical about the mixed reviews.

But I think it helped, because my expectations were realistic and wow-o-wow, the experience beat my expectations in all regards.

Note I say EXPERIENCE, because this is not a restaurant. There is no menu. It is a beautiful farmhouse, surrounded with farming equipment, machinery, farm animals etc.,

The place is huge and it was still packed. Most of the patrons were Spanish, so not a tourist trap.

Toni himself takes turns in interacting with each table and he is a kind gentleman.

On our visit, the menu was lovely Valencian Paella, fried artichokes, eal gravy, potatoes, some dessert. Oh yea, we were filled.

100% recommended.

Day trip from Valencia in metro (line 3 to Meliana) and a 5 minute walk to the huerta for a great authentic paella experience with Toni. The meal is an all-inclusive menu with several appetizers (garrafón humus, bravas, ají pebre, and artichokes), the paella plate with a side salad, and dessert. No one goes home hungry. Arrive a little early to see the paellas being finished over the wood fire after two hours of cooking, the way they are done at home. Check out the animals in the garden and Toni’s museum. The chickens are huge! After lunch chat with Toni about the latest celebrity to come visit him and ride the horse-pulled carriage to the “barraca” to finish your visit. Excellent food, very friendly staff, and all-around and good time.

What’s crazy is how close it is to the city. You can be in the middle of Valencia and it’s only like a 15 minute cab ride away, but feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere.

Toni is a character and I was glad to see him in action. You can tell his passion for food and people. He and his team made our visit memorable and, if you’re lucky, he might just belt out an old Valenciano tune for you.

Did I mention the food was delicious, too?

This was an amazing authentic valancian experience. We cooked the valancian paella (contains snails) from Scratch using orange tree wood. We were able to roam around and look at the animals and Toni's museum that he was proud of. The meal was 9 courses long and toni did the bulk of the serving. At the end of the meal toni sang for us and we sang for him.

Amazing meal, beautiful bike ride from Valencia to get there which is almost entirely via a bike trail away from roads. Food is amazing and the people are beyond kind.
