Restaurante Viejo Zortzi

A recommendation by friends for Viejo Zortzi we had the most wonderful meal starters superb and the main course sublime. The service was impeccable and a lovely atmosphere. Thank you to everyone who made our evening Perfect.

A long day of travelling brought us from Barcelona to Bilbao and a stay at the Hotel Ilunion. To find this little restaurant just a few minutes a way was a great delight. Fresh anchovies to start, fresh fish and Bacalao followed by home made desserts. The atmosphere is relaxing and the service attentive. A great pity we don't drink alcohol as the selection of world wines is very impressive.

We had the most wonderful meal. We don't speak Spanish but were made to feel very welcome. The food was outstanding - fantastic fish, melting beef, great risotto and wonderful desserts. There is a superb wine collection. Overall great value and could not recommend more highly.

It's a nice place with exceptionally good meat and fish. It's really focused on these and there are little vegetables or potato accompanying the meals. However, you get ample side of bread. Only a few vegetarian options, the artichoke were good and the mushroom risotto was very good! The desert was also good. Had a nice typical drink "crema de orugo" or something like this which was really better than other places. I also enjoyed my wine. Thanks for a wonderful evening. No vegan options for a main meal, only mushroom carpaccio starter and the artichoke. Maybe if you call in advance (which I didn't).

The most delicious fresh fish! If you're in the mood for fish, head here-- but be sure to book a table, this small restaurant is very popular. It's a bit pricey, but the fish for two or more -- basically a whole fish, is the way to go. We had the rodaballo, which is a medium firm white fish from local waters and the zamburinas- scallops. We saw the white asparagus (in season now) on other tables and wished we had ordered them, too. Your server will filet and serve your fish table side along with a nice pil-pil sauce. Yum! Save room for desert if you can!

Amazing tapas and great wine! The best I’ve had in Spain. I loved the Txangurro mejillón (mussel gratin) and the Tortilla de patata. Very special, and not expensive.

One of the best dishes I hve tasted in last few years. Duck was crisp on the outside and rare on the inside. Very good taste. Prawns that I eat often and are usually of the sam taste in this case tasted like smoked. Delcious! The dishes are not big but Worth their price.

Delicious well served food, all the options in menu seems very interesting. Absolutely amazing fresh seafood. Perfect very kind service . Wonderful place to have lunch or dinner with friends.

Good and tasty food, Anchovies were fresh, tasty and the convination with the red peper is perfect. The sheesecake kind of pricy but was really good. The Uber guy told me about other food places less expensive but for me this one was good.

This restaurant was complete surprise to us, cause we kissed closed door of nearby much more known restaurant.
We were here on our first day in Bilbao for lunch and we were very hungry.
Choice was menu for 35€ per person.
All food were delicious.
I can recommend this restaurant to everyone by any mean.
Expected price: 4 person full menu 150-200€ with drinks.

A hidden gem of Bilbao that, now that you know about it, you should definitely put on your list. With a daily menu, this small cosy wine bar / restaurant really offers the top of their gourmet performance. Despite individual dishes seemigly costly alone, the daily menus offer you plenty of delicious dishes for a very reasonable price. If you find yourself at this neck of the woods, drop by and try some of their amazing asparagous soup and cob file, not to mention the pear cake for a sweet finish touch!

Yum! The anchovies were delicious, the duck magret too. And the wines 🤌🏻🤌🏻 on point!
