Hotel Catalonia Plaza Mayor

Loved everything about this hotel!! We had a very long day of travel and they allowed us to check in quite early, which was a life saver! It’s also the perfect location to easily explore the city. Rooms were comfortable and clean!

Great location, clean and lovely staff! Stayed here for 3 nights, had 2 rooms, both are very nice and comfortable. The rooms are very quiet despite having the main attractions closed by, we all had very good sleep. The service from front desk staff to housekeeping were excellent. We really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it.

We absolutely love this small, boutique chain of Spanish hotels. We stayed in one in Madrid and one in San Sebastián as well. They have clean, simple but elegant rooms with a view. The showers are excellent! It is worth joining their rewards club-room discounts and a free water bottle each day of the stay. Their breakfasts are amazing with every food imaginable and great coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. We will only stay here when visiting Spain!

overall a really nice experience. the breakfast was amazing with a variety of meats and cheeses. our room were clean and quite spacious, designed with a muted color palette. not a lot of view available for us.
the location i cannot adore enough. located in a quaint neighborhood at the heart of madrid, it’s close to all the major museums, retiro park, and the neighborhood is just full of hidden gems of restaurants and bars. definitely will stay in this hotel next time.

This is a lovely hotel which has easy access to many, many restaurants and tourist attractions. The staff members were very friendly and helpful. All in all, a great place to stay in Madrid.

I stayed here for five days and loved it! Very quiet room, had all the amenities I could want, the staff was super friendly, they offered free early check in / check out / and room upgrade just by joining their rewards program. I was supposed to stay here for 3 nights and enjoyed it so much that I added an additional 2 nights. Highly recommend! Also, location couldn’t be better.

Stayed here for 8 days early June. Hotel was perfect location - large rooms that were very clean, comfortable beds, nice bathroom shower. We had Juliette balcony room which I expected to be noisy but was surprisingly very quiet. Staff from front desk to housekeeping to bar man at the outdoor courtyard patio where we drank vermut daily went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. We’re coming back to Catalonia plaza mayor next year. Highly recommend.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Flight landed very early and arrived into the hotel way earlier than the scheduled check-in time. The front desk staffs were extremely helpful and moved my check-in to the earliest possible so I could rest and freshen up before exploring the city. The room is modern, spacious and clean, location is very central, walking distance to key places of interest. Would highly recommend this hotel esp. for first timers to Madrid! Would defo stay here again if I am to return to Madrid.

The hotel location was very good. Most of Madrid's tourist attractions were within walking distance, and there were supermarkets, restaurants, and even foot massage shops nearby. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and I especially liked the shower and bedding. I was also grateful to the receptionist, Cesar, for helping me finish my trip quickly.

The hotel has the most amazing location, near all the most important tourist attractions, its surrounded by restaurants and bars, and only a 10 minute walk from the Prado and Thyssen museums. The rooms are very comfortable and equipped with everything you might need, the quality of sleep is amazing. The service in the hotel is fantastic; all staff are very professional and friendly, always attentive to whatever need you might have.

We stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed our stay overall. The rooms were spacious enough, clean, and quiet due to the double windows. We didn't hear the noise from the busy street below. My minor gripe is that we wished the beds were a bit firmer. We also appreciated the excellent service from the front desk and the breakfast staff. We would stay at this hotel again.

The hotel is very close to the Anton metro, there's a great supermarket nearby and a laundrymat.
The staff is extremely nice and helpful, when there was an issue with the room, they immediately found a solution, and suggested to reimburse us.
We will stay here again next time we come to Madrid for sure.
The breakfast is great for kids, everything is fresh and tasty, and we loved their suggestion for a bread with the fuet sausage, you should definitely try it!!!

We stayed at the Catalonia Hotel Plaza Mayor for a weekend with friends in Madrid, and even though we obviously spent most of the time outside, sightseeing, I must say we were extremely happy with the hotel we chose.
The location is fabulous, within walking distance to major attractions and must-see places, such as Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, San Miguel Market, the Royal Palace and the Cathedral. If you don't feel like walking, the metro station is just a few steps away to reach everywhere.
The hotel facilities are very good, there is a cafe/bar on the ground floor and the breakfast room in the lower floor. Rooms are distributed over 5 floors, some of them overlooking the street and others towards an interior courtyard. As we requested a quiet room, we were above the courtyard. The room was hot upon arrival, as the curtains were open and the sun was hitting but after half an hour with the AC on, the temperature was ok. However, inside the bathroom was always excessively warm.
Beds are comfortable, rooms have enough space to accommodate two travellers with suitcases and enough wardrobe space. The room was quiet and we had very good sleep.
As a courtesy, we got a large bottle of water in the room each day and two welcome drinks, which was really nice!
The bathroom is very good-sized, towels, taps and bathroom hardware are good quality and everything works extremely well, plenty of hot and cold water for enjoyable showers.
The staff are extremely professional, always ready to assist and provide useful information about the city and the main attractions.
Fantastic stay, will happily come back to stay at the Catalonia Plaza Mayor.

The people at the Catalonia Hotel are extremely kind. Veronica made us feel very comfortable there!! The breakfast they offered was the best!! I especially enjoyed the tortilla!! It was a great place to stay while we were in Madrid!!

This hotel is a well kept secret, hopefully my sharing will help others traveling to Madrid.
The staff is super friendly and welcoming, room was extremely comfortable and clean, location is amazing very central to everything from touring, restaurants, bars and the price is extremely reasonable

Madrid is full of hotels. But this one stands out as being excellent. The staff took extraordinarily good care of my group and made us want to stay longer. The hotel is centrally, located to everything, the staff were top-notch, the breakfast was amazing. We will certainly return!

We spent 7 nights at the hotel. We had a great time. Excellent breakfast with many options to choose from. Room was very clean and quiet. Bar is open until 11:00 PM which is very nice. The location of the hotel is phenomenal. We have no doubt that on our next visit to Madrid we will stay at this hotel.

We had a very pleasant 3 nights stay in the hotel. Staff are professional and very friendly. Rooms are spacious and very comfy. Nothing could have been better. Location was also perfect five mins walking to Plaza Mayor and Sol.

We had a great stay at the hotel. It's in a great central location and as such we could walk less than 20 minutes to major attractions such as Reina Sofia and the Prado.
The staff at the hotel were excellent. Those that manned the breakfast area were particularly helpful. The cleaning staff were very helpful too--they were flexible with our schedule and always left the room in an immaculate state. The desk staff were always pleasant and courteous too.
We have now stayed at Catalonia Hotels in Barcelona, Porto, and Madrid. We have recommended them to friends and family as a great place to stay when visiting Spain and Portugal. As we plan our next vacation you can be sure that we will be seeing that there's a Catalonia Hotel where we can base our trip.
