Wow, food is amazing! I love how flavorful this salad is with all the fresh vegetables in it. Solomillo tastes great. I'm so glad I ordered this steak.

Fantastic food, generous portions. Staff very attentive and helpful explaining what was gluten free on the menu. The setting right by the river is fabulous.

We had the most delightful evening at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were very generous. We had the octopus with carrot and squid mash and the stuffed steak roll. Both were presented very well and tasted amazing. Pity there weren't many patrons, I hope they keep going strong through this pandemic. They're a gem of a restaurant.

I travelled to Spain to visit my family back in December 2019 and we went for dinner to La Compuerta on my last day in Granada. I was intrigued by this place when my cousin said it was not the typical spanish restaurant, but I didn’t think I would be as pleased

First of all, being a late evening in December it was bloody dark, but Pinos Genil’ scenery is magnificent. Think of swans by the river, weeping willows and rocky roads. Like out of a movie!

We sat at a big table inside because it was freezing cold, but I could see myself comfortably seating at the bar on a busy weekend night, enjoying one of the delicious wine bottles the restaurant has to offer. We were served by the owner (and chef!) Mario, a rather quiet gentleman that was happy to share details of the origin and making of the plates he created for his menu.

The first dish we had was a complimentary pastry puff starter - unexpected and delicious! We moved on to my cousin’s favourite - tomato, avocado, mozzarella and bonito salad. It was so good and so fresh, we ordered a second serve! My mum was intrigued by the Falso Maki on the menu (don’t be fooled, mum does not know japanese, she just liked the name of the dish) so the owner pulled out one of them for us to try it. The combination of ingredients, flavours and texture was unreal - and presentation was spot on! Anchovies, cheese and pickled vegetables wrapped in the thinnest tomato slices, topped with cheese bubbles (Mario’s got a name for that but too technical for me).

For mains we shared croquetas and the steak tartare. Croquetas were really good in flavour (we had both the pear and spinach and the chicken ones) but they are a rather heavy dish that I didn’t thoroughly enjoyed. The steak tartare was AMAZING. We actually finished the tartare so quickly I didn’t have a chance to take a photo.

And it was finally time for dessert. I had been craving tiramisu the entire trip so that’s what I ordered. My cousin and brother decided to share the cheesecake. Oh boy. That cheesecake was heaven. HEAVEN. Don’t get me wrong, the tiramisu was great, it had a nice crunchy texture in the middle and the right amount of liquor but the cheesecake. Do not leave without a piece of the cheesecake. We also had a mille feuille presented incredibly cute, that I cannot comment on because I was completely full by that point. But even the digestive we had was delicious.

I cannot recommend this place more.
Bravo Mario, I’ll definitely be back.

A wonderful restaurant! The food was really delicious, especially the avocado salad. The owner is also the chef and he is super friendly. The place has really saved us after a long and tiring hike.
