Idyllic location, stylish accommodation, perfect hosts.

The property is a converted Cortijo (rural villa) which comprises a large house where the fantastic owners, Marylynne and Gillian live.

The three self contained holiday lets in the converted farm buildings offer private accommodation with a shared outdoor pool, terrace and BBQ area. The location is amazingly tranquil, surrounded by birdsong and olive groves.
We first visited in 2016 and are booked in again this summer. Don't forget to switch on the pool lights for a evening swim overlooking the valley.

A car is essential and we travelled to Granada, Cordoba and Malaga as well as a host of smaller rural towns. Andalusia is beautiful and full of intriguing history and this is a great location to base yourself.

After searching for the perfect rural getaway my partner and I came across Cortijo Las Rosas. Nestled in rolling olive groves the Cortijo offers the discerning visitor peace and tranquillity and you can feel the stress of the daily 9-5 slog melting away as soon as you arrive. The drive to the Cortijo offers some spectacular views of lake Iznajar, the surrounding countryside and Iznajar itself. Our accommodation was the gorgeous Casita Galgo which was tastefully decorated and had its own courtyard which was perfect for those evening BBQ's. If lounging around the pool gets too much for you we found the Cortijo the perfect springboard to go off exploring the surrounding areas, and there was lots of information provided to help us decide where to go. We will definitely be coming back to Cortijo Las Rosas. We loved it!

The perfect getaway place.

We first stayed at Las Rosas in 2010, and have been back about 5 times. Every visit has been magical, with lots of sun to go with the amazing views. There are 3 casitas which share a pool and a sun terrace, but there is plenty of room and it doesn't seem crowded. We've stayed in 2 of the 3 casitas, which are beautifully kitted out in a way that reflects the traditional style of rural Spain, but with large comfy sofas! There is an optional welcome pack which is excellent value for money, and is just the thing when arriving from the airport with no enthusiasm for a supermarket trip. There is a small supermarket within walking distance, but a car is pretty much essential, both for the bigger supermarket at Rute and exploring the countryside and surrounding towns, Cordoba, Malaga etc. The owners, Marylynne and Gilly, live on site and are splendid hosts, with lots of advice and tips, and on one early spring stay when the nights were somewhat chilly, the loan of a hot water bottle.
It's probably my favourite holiday destination, and we're looking forward to returning! - Bridget

Peter adds: Las Rosas is the perfect antidote to urban stress and email addiction. I absolutely love going there! I feel as if I've got younger each time. Favourite things include: early morning swims, a glass of wine at sunset, watching the swallows dip down to the pool, beautifully clean and comfortable bedrooms, lovely and dark at night, incredible starry skies, and so quiet that you can easily oversleep! One late spring visit, it was cold at night..so we fired up the wood stove and transformed the evening in minutes..more usually it's blissfully warm, so T-shirt and shorts all the time. In summer, we'd often light the barbecue on our private patio. Hilly walks with grand views. The narrow, steep road up to the cortijo from Iznajar is less scary now than when we first visited, but the views and the holiday experience are truly worth every second of the drive. Highly recommended.

Dean and I have been to Cortijo las Rosas before and we really looked forward to going back! We stayed in Casita Perdiz which is a very spacious, clean, well appointed self catering suite of rooms. Everything you need to make it an enjoyable stay is right there! There is lots of information, guides and maps in the casita to help you chose a day’s outing or you can just sit and chill by the pool with a good book! It’s just a great location to have a wonderful relaxing time.! Gillian and Marylynne are wonderful hosts and are very helpful and knowledgeable and are very pleased to help with any queries or questions you may have. There are many lovely local restaurants and there is a very good supermarket which has everything you may need! Some nice wines in there too! We think there is something for everyone be it wildlife, walking or a visit to some of the many historical sites in some of the towns or cities. Dean and i have had a great time and look forward to future visits. Thanks Gillian and Marylynne for making our visit such a fabulous one!

This is a hidden gem set in the rolling olive-covered hills above the Iznajar reservoir. Suits both kinds of people - those wanting a rest in the sun or reading a book round the pool - and those using it as a base for wider exploring. For me it's the perfect place to both write my books and explore Granada, Seville and Cordoba and all places in between. It has all the sun and heat you want during the day and yet its height above sea level ensures a good night's sleep because of its relative coolness at night. With absolutely no light pollution round about, the night sky at Cortijo Las Rosas has to be seen to be believed. It's owned and run by two indefatigable and knowledgeable sisters, Gilly and Marylynne.

Five stars plus! Wonderful hosts, exceptional casitas and beautiful location. We enjoyed the fully stocked kitchen, wood stove (with fire always started for us on cool mornings), and hikes in the surrounding hills. We had an unforgettable stay!
